Donna groaned softly, her eyes fluttering open. The only sound was that of Angie's snoring and her ticking clock. The groggy woman slowly propped herself up on her elbows, rubbing her eyes and looking at her clock. Nine fifty-five a.m. Her brows furrowed as she sat up, Angie falling off of her head and waking her up.

''Huh- wa?!'' Angie bolted upwards, still half asleep.

The Dollmaker took a quick look around her room. There was no evidence of anyone having entered. There wasn't a tray of food either. Was Lex still asleep? No, she couldn't be. She was always on time for every meal. Did she not come home yet?

Donna tossed the covers off of her legs and swung them out from under her. Angie managed to jump out of the way and got on her feet, still waking up. The Dollmaker put her hair up into a messy bun, not bothering to change into her usual funeral garb. She went to her bed and picked up Angie, placing her on her shoulder. Once Angie was secured on her shoulder, she left her room, her bare feet tapping against the floorboards.

The Dollmaker peeked inside the kitchen. No evidence of anything being made this morning. The ravenette's brow furrowed once more as she walked to the elevator to make her way to the first floor. As she rode the elevator, she wondered where Lex was. Maybe she really was still asleep, Donna wouldn't blame her if she was. Karl had reputation for working a majority of his workers to the bone on a daily basis.

Once she reached the first floor and removed herself from the elevator, she stole a glance at the front door. Lex's boots weren't there and neither was the jacket she had made for the woman. Donna looked up in the general direction of Lex's room on the second floor. Maybe... she forgot to remove her boots and jacket due to exhaustion?

The Dollmaker swallowed down a hard lump that formed in her throat as she climbed the stairs, Angie beginning to doze off again. Donna's clammy palms stuck uncomfortably to the railing, her heart thumping against her rib cage as she made it to the top and down the hallway. She had never stepped a foot inside Lex's room ever since she began working, wanting to give the woman her privacy. She finally stopped in front of Lex's door. She took in a breath and knocked on the door, startling her doll companion from her sleep.

''Lex? Are you in there?'' she called out. No answer. She knocked again. ''Lex?'' There was still no answer. ''I'm going to come in, alright?''

The Dollmaker waited five seconds before entering the room. ''Hey Alex, you dead or somethin'?'' Angie screeched, jumping onto Donna's head to get a peek inside.

The room was empty. All that was in there was Lex's bag under her bed, a novel of some kind on the nightstand next to the bed and what appeared to be a journal of some kind resting beside it. Donna took a step inside; a warm, creamy exotic scent tickling her nose. Vanilla.

Donna took in another breath, closing her eyes to help savour the scent. When she opened her eyes, she hadn't even noticed she had sat down on Lex's bed. She was about to get off of it when the tips of her pale fingers brushed against something soft. The ravenette looked down at her left hand to see a scarf. It was a beautiful dark blue scarf with a subtle zigzag pattern on it, fluffy yarn on each end of the scarf.

Donna couldn't help but pick it up, she had never seen Lex wear it but it was still on her bed. The bed smelled like vanilla. The Dollmaker blushed lightly as she brought the scarf to her nose and inhaled the comforting scent of vanilla, closing her eyes as she did so.

''Hey Donna!'' the Dollmaker jumped as she looked at Angie, ripping the scarf away from her nose. The doll was holding a book with a black leather cover. The doll opened it and flipped to a random page. ''Look at this.''
