There was a loud heartbeat-like sound in her ears. Her wounds suddenly stopped bleeding and the steam that had disappeared erupted from her wounds one again. Lex was suddenly on her feet. She didn't feel like herself. Her left eye throbbed, her body felt much lighter than before and felt a surge of strength coursing through her veins.
The instant she saw the creature that she had fought, she attacked it. Her long, black claws dug into the beasts back. The creature roared, trashing about and rolling over. Lex was faster however, she jumped from the beasts back and landed lightly on her feet. The beast snarled at her, the hair on it's back standing on end. The beast lunged at the white haired woman, claws eager to meet her flesh once more. Lex merely dodged each attack nonchalantly.
After not even a few seconds, she lunged at the beast again. No thoughts of strategy came to her, nor any concern with her physical wellbeing. All she wanted to do in that moment was to colour the snow around them red. Lex's upper bicep was once more acquainted with with the beasts teeth. Using her free limb and her arm between the beasts fangs, she grasped the its jaws and pried them apart. The disgusting sound of snapping bones and ripping tendons harmonized beautifully with the gurgling roars from the beast as it released Lex's arm.
The beast tried to attack, but the just resulted in Lex grabbing it's bottom jaw and tearing it from it's face. The beast let out a shrill shriek of agony, rolling around with blood spilling to the ground like a faucet. Lex watched as the beasts body writhed in agony, gurgling sounds coming from its throat as it slowly choked on it's own body. She was tempted to let the beast suffer a slow death, but instead, she pushed the much large beast onto it's side with little effort.
Without thinking, she plunged her talons into the beasts rib cage. It's heart barely had begun its next beat when it was pulled from it's chest, killing it almost instantly. Lex looked down at the now dead creature as it turned into nothing but dust. However, it did leave large, crystalized remains. Lex let out a long breath, a cloud forming in front of her face as steam simmered from her healing wounds. The surge of strength she felt had suddenly evaporated and left her knees trembling.
Lex knew for a fact she needed to rest and let her wounds heal. If she got into another fight with a lycan or a beast like the one she just faced, she wouldn't be able to defend herself. Without thinking, she stumbled into a random house and shut the door behind her. Leaning against the door, she closed her eyes and listened to the sound of the hissing steam as her injuries healed. However, her gut told her she wasn't in this house alone. This gut feeling was proved correct when she heard a small gasp. She pried her right eye open, gazing down at the person in the house with her.
Who she saw was a young woman with shadow-like black hair and terror filled hazel eyes. The young woman was slumped against a green cabinet with flaking paint. The girls blood however, was giving the cabinet a new coat of colour. The young woman was clutching at two different places: her shoulder and stomach.
''The Beast Amongst Men...'' the young woman muttered. Lex closed her eye again, content to remain silent until her wounds healed. The stench of blood twisted her stomach and kept her grounded to reality. ''My brother... said he killed you...''
That line cause Lex's eye to snap open, looking at the young woman in shock. The woman replayed each word the young woman spoke. Each word echoed and overlapped each other. Now that she took a closer look at the young woman, she looked very similar to someone she had seen before.
***
She groaned, prying her eyes open to reveal a dimly lit area. She pushed herself onto her feet quickly, head spinning from standing to fast which caused her to fall down.
