Rays of the rising sun peeked through the curtains, shinning obnoxiously in Donna's face. She groaned and pulled the duvet over her head. The Dollmaker reached towards the space beside her, feeling a small chill prickle her skin. But no one was there. When she heard the door to the bedroom open, she rolled over and her eyes opened to see who it was. The bed dipped down a little and a warm hand pressed against her cheek. Donna hummed and placed her hand over the one on her cheek, opening her eyes and smiling at Lex. However, her smile faded a little when she saw the dark bags forming under Lex's eyes.

''Did you not sleep last night?'' Donna asked quietly. The snowy haired woman seemed to hesitate at the question but she reluctantly nodded. The ravenette reached towards Angie, who was still sleeping like a log and set her down carefully down on the bed. She sat up, Lex's hand falling from her cheek. ''Why didn't you wake me up?''

''I didn't want to bother you.'' Lex whispered, looking towards the window.

''Lex, if you couldn't sleep, you should have told me.'' Donna said.

''And make me the tea that'll knocked me out again?'' Lex quirked an eyebrow playfully. Donna rolled her eye at the woman, lightly smacking the her thigh. The snowy haired woman laughed sleepily before leaning forwards and kissing the Dollmaker's forehead. The ravenette giggled and tossed the blanket off her, startling Angie and waking her up.

''Wha- no! Give it back you bastard!'' Angie shouted, fighting the blanket.

''Uh, Angie?'' Donna looked at the flailing blanket, sharing a concerned expression. The porcelain doll ripped the blanket off her of, panting and looking at her friend with a pout.

''The chicken stole my waffle!'' she shouted.

''Angie, I think you were dreaming.'' Lex said, the corner of her lip curling into a smile. ''But, I'll tell you what, how about I make you guys some pancakes? I know it isn't waffle but it's close enough.''

Angie seemed to like that idea since she immediately crawled onto Donna's lap, ready for the day. The Dollmaker chuckled before rising from the bed. Lex took a moment to join them, but she wore a small smile. However, Donna could sense that Lex's mind was somewhere else. She couldn't quite explain why, but she felt as if something was going to happen. Whether it was good or not.

Breakfast wasn't silent that morning, Donna was actually quite talkative and cheerful. Lex would sit and listen politely, adding a few of her own cheerful comments every now and then. She wanted to give Donna her undivided attention but there were times where her mind would wander back to Shadow and her mother which caused her to miss some of the things Donna was saying. It made her feel guilty.

She wanted to tell Donna about the young woman and about Shadow, but she didn't know how she'd react. Lex didn't know how Donna would react if she told her that the young woman told her to raise Shadow, but instead, she gave the child to someone else. She didn't want to spoil Donna's impression of her or ruin her good mood, but she hated keeping things from her. Lex wanted more than anything to tell Donna about Shadow and everything else, but she knew that if she did there would be a chance Donna wouldn't trust her anymore. But if she didn't tell her and Donna found out that she was withholding things from her...

What if she never speaks to me again? What if she wishes rid of me? Lex thoughts were racing with so many thoughts her head started to spin.

''Cara mia? Are you alright?'' Lex looked at Donna.

''Yes I'm- Cara mia?'' she stared at the woman, a bit confused. The Dollmaker's cheeks flushed for a moment as she brought her tea cup to her lips.
