''What?'' both Ethan Winters and Lex said in unison. The Dollmaker looked up at the woman who held her closely.
''Donna, you can't be serious.'' Lex said, looking down at the woman.
''Lex, I'm dead serious.'' she looked back at the shocked man who had attacked her. ''Ethan, I'll help you to the best of my abilities to help reunite you with your daughter.''
The man began to cry, smiling and sniffling. ''Thank you.''
''I think it's best if you leave now and lay low in the village or in the forest.'' Donna suggested. The man got up slowly and cautiously slipped past Lex, who was growling at him. Before he turned around the corner of the hallway, he looked at the two of them.
''Be uh...'' he paused. ''Be safe.'' then, he was gone.
Donna watched Lex stare in the direction he had walked in, her ears perked up. Very faintly, she heard the front door of the house opening and then closing. Angie was still clinging onto the Dollmaker, her breath hitching from fear. The three of them sat in the hallway for a few moments to calm down. Then, the ravenette felt Lex shift onto her knees. She looked up at Lex.
''Come on Donna, let's get you cleaned up.'' she said. The woman simply nodded and shakily stood up. Her legs felt like they were going to give out any moment and she felt light headed. There was no doubt in her mind that Lex caught this since before she knew it, she was swept off her feet and being carried to the front foyer.
Heat crept up her cheeks as they reached the foyer and Lex began to head upstairs with Donna still in her arms. The woman tried not to squirm too much, not wanting to make Lex lose balance. Her entire face went red as they stopped in front of Lex's bedroom door. The white haired woman set Donna down in order to open the door and then gently guided her into the room and onto the bed.
Lex sat the woman on the bed before leaving the room to, presumably, go to the bathroom and grab a few things from the first aid kit. Angie looked up at Donna and slowly released the woman, having finally calmed down. The porcelain doll sniffled, curiously picking up the blue scarf on the bed. Donna watched her friend sit down and fidget with the scarf.
''That was... really scary.'' the doll spoke unusually quiet. The Dollmaker only nodded. Still a little shaken from what had happened. ''If Lex didn't work here... or if she had still been asleep... we would have...'' the dolls' breath hitched in fear as she clutched onto the scarf. Unable to finish her sentence.
Donna reached for the doll, propping her friend onto her lap. Angie merely held the scarf in her hands, playing with the ends to distract herself. They waited in silence for Lex to return. Soon, the door opened to reveal the white haired woman with two clean rags, a bottle of alcohol, water and a few band-aids.
Lex placed the items down on the bed and sat beside the woman. Donna sat still as Lex poured the alcohol carefully onto the rag, making sure not to spill it. The white haired woman looked up at Donna and carefully brushed her hair out of the way for easy access to the cut.
''This will sting a little.'' Lex's voice was soft as she lifted the rag to Donna's cut. She pressed the rag against the cut as carefully as she could, but Donna was still met with a sharp stinging pain and she jerked away.
''O-Ow...'' Donna winced.
''Sorry.'' Lex said. Donna saw the woman bite her lower lip before feeling the woman place her hand on top of hers'. When she felt Lex give her hand a squeeze, her cheeks began to heat up. Lex brought the rag back up and tenderly dabbed it against the cut, slowly cleaning it. Donna felt some pain but it wasn't as bad as Ethan hitting her.
