"The answers are all inside of me."

After spending a couple weeks in New York we all finally decided to head home.
It felt good to sleep in my own bed and get a normal shower.
The mail was starting to pile up at our mailbox so I had to go get it.
I unlocked the mailbox and a ton of letters where shoved inside. After grabbing all of them I went upstairs to my apartment.
I searched through all the mail sorting them out by bills and junk until I got to something different.
A letter with my name on it.
A letter with an address listed as Boston.
My acceptance letter.
I opened up the envelope.
Calm down Lucas I thought to myself. Tons of kids wanted to be Vets. What was the likely hood that I actually got accepted.
Dear Lucas Frair,
It is our pleasure to congratulate you on your acceptance to Franklin.
How does this happen to me?
I can't go to Franklin. I don't want to leave Maya behind for a school year. Things are perfect the way they are I can't just go and change all of them for my career.
I can probably just keep taking classes in California next year. My parents won't really care if I switch colleges.
All I have to do is email them and let them know that I'm not going to attend college there next year.
I started running around my apartment looking for my laptop. It should be with my other stuff that I brought back from New York, but for some reason it isn't.
I ran into my room and started searching around for my laptop bag, but it wasn't in here.
Instead my phone buzzed with a text.
Maya: Hey I'll be there in a second
I totally forgot that she was coming over, because of the storm that was passing through the area tonight.
Crap she can't see this letter, because she'll think that I'm just trying to leave her.
She'd be walking through the front door any second now, which gave me no time to put it in the trash can.
Just as the front door opened I pushed it down in between my mattress and headboard.
"Hello?" Maya called.
I ran out into the kitchen to meet her.
Maya gave me a weird look, "Are you okay? You look out of breath and kinda worried about something."
"Yeah Maya I need to tell you something," I said, grabbing her hand.
"Umm okay, but before I forget here is your laptop. I think Riley accidentally picked it up and the airport," Maya explained.
I took the laptop from her and put it down on the coffee table.
She smiled at me once I looked back up at her, "So what did you need to tell me?"
Okay now I really had to tell her about my letter. I'm sure she wouldn't care as long as I explained to her that I wasn't going to Franklin.
"It's just...um....you see," I tried.
Maya gave me a puzzling look.
"I thought I lost my laptop, but I guess not since you found it."

It started to rain after a while and the wind started to pick up as well. The power was probably going to go out within a couple minutes.
"I'm sleepy," Maya yawned.
I asked, "Do you want to go to bed?"
"Yeah."
"Alright let's go."
I helped Maya up and we started walking towards my bedroom, but then I remembered the letter.
I didn't get a chance to move it to somewhere else. If Maya sat down on the bed she would probably end up finding the letter.
I ran up in front of her and shut the door so that neither of us could go into my room.
"What are you doing?" Maya asked.
"Maybe we should just sleep out on the couch tonight," I suggested.
"The couch won't fit both of us though."
"Well you see," I trailed off.
Maya laughed, "Did you not have time to clean your room before I came over?"
"Yeah we shouldn't go in there, because I'm embarrassed to let my girlfriend see how messy my room is."
"Lucas I don't care if your room looks messy. If it is messy I can just help you clean it up."
"It's bad."
"What are you hiding? Do you actually wear SpongeBob Square Pants underwear to bed?"
"You wish I did."
Maya moved my hand away from the door and opened it.
My room wasn't messy. The only thing out of place were my pillows, which got all messy from me shoving the letter under my bed.
"I thought you said your room was messy?"
"Sorry I guess I'm a little bit of a neat freak."
"Well now we don't have to clean and that's a good thing, because I'm tired."
Maya jumped into the bed and covered herself up in the blankets.
"Are you going to lay down?" Maya asked.
"I need to write an email first," I said, leaning down and kissing her forehead.
"Goodnight Lucas."
"Goodnight Maya."

So did you guys forget that Lucas applied to Franklin?
Hook line and sinker.
There's the catch.
