Megan Lewis

5:39 am

I woke up the next week really drained. I've never experienced a full week like that. Alex has been pushing my buttons on purpose. I pushed past my tiredness and got out of bed. I walked over to my dresser and looked at the designs that I worked on last week. I was really nervous about the designs. I sketched them on new paper just in case I wimped out. If I did it, they would either like them and Alex would take the credit and then chew me out. Or, I will get fired. I sighed and started to get ready. I got in the shower and got dressed.

I put on a dress that I brought a while ago. It had a square neckline and it flared from the waist. It was royal blue and it stopped right at my knee. I pulled my hair into a ponytail and put my glasses on. I grabbed my bag and I put the designs in a special folder. I went to the kitchen and tried to make coffee. I pressed the power button and it wouldn't turn on.

I groaned. I walked to the door and grabbed my stuff. I checked the clock and it was 7:12. I had enough time to stop for coffee. I walked out of my apartment and locked the door. I went to the elevator. It was going painfully slow this morning. The elevator finally came and I got in. I rod it down to the lobby and walked out into the cool April air. I should've grabbed a jacket. I walked down the street to a Starbucks.

I walked in and the line was really long. Great! I really need to get a new coffee maker. I grabbed my phone to return a couple text messages. One was from David.

David:
The group sends lots of love. We really miss you, mostly me! We have to get together this weekend!

I smiled and returned a quick message. I put my phone back in my bag. The line moved a little but not much. It was getting close to 7:30. I heard someone clear their throat. I turned around to see someone who I wish I hadn't.

"Megan ... nice to see you again." I rolled my eyes.

"Nice isn't the word I would use." I turned back around.

"Aww don't be like that, I know you miss me." I sighed. I did, but I wasn't going to let him know that.

"Good bye Jeffery." He walked up closer behind me and whispered in his deep husky voice.

"I know you're working for Alexander. Don't let his good looks deceive you. He isn't what he seems." I scrunched my eyebrows and I didn't respond. I stepped up but Jeffery grabbed me by my waist and pulled me back. "This one is on me." He whispered in my ear. I started to smile but stopped myself. He ordered my coffee and I walked over and waited for it.

"So ... are you going to their annual sales event? I'm pretty sure you are." I rolled my eyes. He won't stop! I didn't speak to him. The barista called the name.

"Mr. & Mrs. Baxter." I looked at him and he just shrugged and smiled.

"Good bye Jeffery." I grabbed my coffee and walked out.

"I will give you a call!" He yelled as I walked away. I checked my phone and it was 7:31. I rushed to the bus stop and got on. It dropped me off 15 minutes later and I walked a block. I walked into the building and showed my ID to the receptionist. I went up the elevator and got off on my floor. I walked to my desk and I saw a sticky note there. "Come in my office. - Alex."

I sighed. I can't get a break. I put my coffee and bag down and then walked to his door. I knocked.

"Enter." He said and I rolled my eyes.

"You wanted me?" I asked and he looked up at me and stared for a minute.

"There was some designs on my desk when I left last week." I took a big gulp. "I was wondering if you picked them up and gave them to Anna." I breathed.
