Megan Lewis

9:42 am

I woke up and rolled over and checked my phone. I've been getting updates about my place since last week. They say everything is on schedule. Hopefully I don't have to stay here longer than need be. My phone started to ring and I answered it.

"Hello?"

"Hey Meg, I miss you so much! What are you doing today?"

"I miss you too David, where have you been!?"

"I'll explain. I'm thinking we pick up chipotle and then go to the park and catch up. I really miss you."

"That's sounds awesome. What time do you wanna meet?"

"At 12. I can pick you up."

"You can't do that. I'm not at home."

"What? Why aren't you at home?"

"It's a long story. I will send you the address. Just don't pull in the driveway."

"Uhm, okay."

"Alright. See you later David."

I hung up the phone. I grabbed my laptop out of my bag and decided to work for a little bit. About an hour after me responding to emails and working on the trip for Brad, I heard the door bell ring a couple times. I thought Alex would get up and get it but a couple of hard knocks started after. I ran down the stairs and swung open the big black door. I saw Jade standing there next to a short women who looked like Alex's mom.

"Hi," she said hesitantly, "uhm, is Alex here?" She asked. She shook her head and looked very annoyed. I nodded.

"Hi Megan!" Jade said and the women looked down at her weirdly. They walked in and Jade took her shoes off. Bailey was still giving me a weird look.

"Hi Jade! I'm assuming your Bailey. I'm Megan. I was at the hospital three weeks ago." I said and she nodded.

"I remember my mother mentioning something about a Megan. You work for Alexander?" She asked and I nodded.

"It's not what you think. I'm just living here for a couple weeks while my apartment gets fixed up. It was broken into." Her demeanor instantly changed.

"Really!? Oh my gosh!? That must be terrible! Are you okay?" She fired off questions. I nodded with a soft smile.

"Yeah it was pretty scary. Alex was nice enough to let me stay here though." I tried to sound as genuine as I could while I was mad at him.

"I'm so sorry, I just thought, you know," she trailed off and I nodded.

"I can go get Alex if you want me too." I said and she shook her head.

"I can do it. Can you just watch Jade down here. Make sure she doesn't get into any trouble." She walked up the stairs slowly and went to Alex's room. I heard muffled voices but I didn't hear what they were saying.

"Hey Megan! Are you still my friend?" She asked and I smiled.

"Of course I am!" She smiled and then grabbed my hand and led me to the tv.

"Can you turn to Disney?" She asked handing me the remote. I smiled.

"I think I can do that for you." I grabbed the remote from her and changed the channel. We sat on the black sectional watching 'Jessie' and she was smiling happily at the TV. I heard footsteps and I turned my head towards the steps.

Bailey and Alex walked into the kitchen. Alex's hair was everywhere and it looked like he didn't get any sleep.

"Hey Jade Bug!" He smiled at her and she ran over to him. He picked her up and gave her a big squeeze. It was really adorable. I noticed I had started smiling and I stopped.
