Megan Lewis

7:24 pm

I looked over at Alex and he was physically tensed up. This was not good. Us three being in the same room together is not good. "I just wanted to come over and congratulate you personally Alex," he said and nodded at him. Alex was staring daggers into him. It was way worse than the looks he used to give me.

Since Alex didn't answer, Jeffery looked over at me. "Nice to see you again Megan." I took a quick look at Alex and he raised an eyebrow. This isn't going to end well. "How is working at your new job? Terrible I heard. You know, you're always welcomed to come back sweetheart." He would pull this bullshit.

"She's happy where she is. You don't have to worry about her. She is being taken care off." Alex said before I could speak. He smirked at Jeffery. Jeffery sucked his teeth and shook his head.

"As I was saying Megan, it was nice running into you at Starbucks. We should have lunch sometime." He started walking away before I could even deny his request. I sighed and looked over at Alex. He had this look on his face that I couldn't understand.

"Excuse me." He said and stood up from his chair and started walking out of the ballroom. I sighed again.

"What the hell was that about?" Noah asked. I shook my head.

"I think someone should go talk to him." Benjamin said staring right at me. I shook my head viscously.

"I can't. Ben I can't." He just looked at me.

"You have some explaining to do." Anna whispered to me. I sighed again.

"I will tell you everything later. I have to go see if he is okay." I moved my chair back and walked out of the ballroom. I went the the right towards the bathrooms and opened the men's door.

"Alex!" I called as I got weird looks from the men using bathroom. "Alexander!" I called again. There was no answer. I shut the door and went towards the bar. I saw him gulp down a glass of alcohol and wince. I walked over to him and turned towards the bartender. "Best scotch you have, on the rocks." The bartender nodded and I looked over at Alex and he stared forward.

"Hey, can we talk?" I asked. He sighed.

"About what? Because last time you asked me that, I was talking about the wrong thing." He said and I laughed a little bit. He looked at me.

"What do you want to talk about?" I asked. He sighed.

"I ... don't want to talk about that." I sighed.

"But, I want to talk about it. You went mad out there." He shook his head and chuckled.

"That, that was nothing. We've had some incidents way worse than that." He asked the bartender for another drink as he slid my drink in front of me. I swallowed it down quick and made a face at the burning sensation in my throat. He was quiet and I didn't know what to say. I was about to leave when he started talking again.

"So I'm assuming you used to work for Jeffery?" He asked not looking at me. I bit my bottom lip.

"Yeah, I used to be on his team." I said softly. He nodded and grabbed the drink the bartender gave him. "Didn't you drive here? I think you should slow down." I said trying to change the subject.

"How did you know I drove?" He asked.

"I saw you walk through the door." He smiled.

"You were waiting for me to come in?" He asked. I rolled my eyes.

"No, I was coming from the bathroom and your mom was asking for you so I thought I'd walk in with you." I said not looking at him. He laughed. I looked at him with my eyebrows furrowed.
