Chapter 16

When we arrive JJ parks the Twinkie. He gets out and runs to my side of the car, opening the door for me.

“Ma lady,” He says.

“Thank you my good sir,” I say in a terrible British accent. He gives me a quick kiss on the lips.

“What was that for?” I ask.

“I don’t know,” He says, grabbing my hand. We walk into the country club and look for Kie. I see her standing in the corner, trying to hang up fairy lights. I sneak up behind her.

“Boo!” I yell.

She jumps and drops the lights, causing them to all fall down. “What the hell, Sophia!” she says, turning around. JJ and I just laugh at her.

“You’re gonna help me put these back up,” She says.

“Okay momma Kie,” I say laughing.

“I’m gonna go find the boys,” JJ says.

“Okay,” I say. JJ walks away and Kie looks at me.

“What?” I ask.

‘Don’t what me. I saw you guys holding hands and John B said you guys were cuddling again.”

“Yea, I don’t know. I don’t think it means anything.” I say.

“Mhm, sure.” She says. I help her finish hanging up the lights. Around 5 o’clock people come flooding in. We gather around the dance floor. Kie and I are dancing and drinking fruit punch.

“Ugh, I wish I had some beer right now,” I say to her.

“Me too,” She says with a laugh.

“Have you seen the boys lately?” I ask.

“Actually no I haven’t," She says.

"They're prolly busy, with drinks. There are a lot of people here."

"Hey beautiful," I hear someone say behind me. I turn around.

"Hi, Rafe," I say with a smile. 

"Wanna get drinks?" He asks.

I look over at Kie and she nods her head. "I would love to." 

We walk away and go over to the bar.

"Can I get two pepsis?" He asks the guy.

"Yep, $6 please," The guy replies.

Rafe hands him a 10. "Keep the change."

The guy gives us the Pepsi and we walk away. We go out to the dock. I sit on the ground leaning up against the pole. Rafe sit's next to me.

"So, how are you after you got hit?" He asks.

"I'm okay, nothing hurts anymore," I say.

"Sophia fucking Rose," I hear JJ yell. I look toward the country club and see JJ storming down here.

"You should prolly go. He seems upset," I say.

"Okay," He says standing up. I watch him walk away. When he passes JJ, JJ gives him a dirty look.

"What are you doing hanging out with a kook? Especially him." He asks.

"What the hell, JJ. We weren't doing anything," I say.

"Okay, so explain to me why you were with him."

"Oh my god, why does it fucking matter?" I ask, getting annoyed.

"You can't hang out with him anymore," JJ says.

"JJ your not my fucking dad. You're not gonna tell me what to do. If I wanna hang out with Rafe I will."

"No you won't. What do you see in him?" JJ asks.

"Rafe has always been there for me even after our break up!" I yell. "He has never done anything wrong, unlike you!"

"Just stop fucking hanging out with him!" JJ yells. "You're always complaining about how you hate kooks and then you go and hang out with that asshole!"

"Why does it even fucking matter to you?" I yell. "I fucking hate Bell with all my heart and you still dated her!"

"Because I fucking love you Sophia. I can't stop thinking about you." JJ yells. My eyes widen in shock.I don't even get a second to think before he kisses me. It takes me a second to realize what's going on before I kiss him back. He puts his hands on my hips and my hands find their way to his hair. I pull away after a few minutes.

"I love you too, JJ." I say with the biggest smile.

He grabs my hand and starts pulling me away from the dock.

"What are we doing?" I ask.

"Something I've been waiting so long to do."

We walk out to the twinkie and get in. As we drive to JJ's I text the group chat telling them we left.

"Is your dad home?" I ask.

"Nope, he's in rehab." JJ replies.

"Oh, okay," I say. JJ puts his hand on my inner thigh.
