When Love Lasts

Chapter 12

Meg and Chad were returning home from a romantic stroll.

"I think I'm gonna go for a run later. Care to join me?" said Meg.

"No thanks. Last time, a woman kept warning you that I was right behind you" said Chad with a giggle.

When they entered the apartment, there was a strange man there.

"Hey! How you doin?" he said.

"May I help you?" said Meg.

"You can sure try" said the man.

"What are you doing here?" said Chad.

"Paying my rent. I was told I could stay here" said the man.

"By who?" said Chad.

"A little kid in a sweater vest. Lives across the hall" said the man.

Meg gasped. "Charles Wallace!" she whispered.

"He did this for revenge on Calvin, I know it" said Chad.

Meg and Chad then received three knocks from Jeremy.

"Meg and Chad?" he said in between knocks.

"Come on in" said Chad.

Jeremy and Charles Wallace came in.

"Ah! I see you've met Theodore" said Charles Wallace.

"Charles Wallace, why is he here?" said Meg.

"He's gonna be your paid roommate for a while. Just till he can get his business back" said Charles Wallace.

He turned to the strange man and said "Theodore, this is Meg and Chad, your new roommates. They're very honest, but I wouldn't leave cash laying around".

"Charles, please. What did Calvin do to make you hire him?" said Chad.

"He wore the Warriors flag in the laundry room. He was getting revenge on me. Now it's payback time." said Charles Wallace.

"I tried to warn him, Chad the lad" said Jeremy.

"Jeremy! You helped him?" said Chad.

"Not quite. But I do know that Theodore doesn't know much about his identity" said Jeremy.

"I have a note from a blood company. I'm O negative" said Theodore.

"And now you know as much about him as I do" said Charles Wallace.

"Charles, this has to stop" said Chad.

"Not until Calvin starts coming to his senses about our property division. He needs it" said Charles Wallace.

Then he left.

"I'm really sorry about this" said Jeremy following Charles Wallace.
