Chapter 17

"Meg didn't tell me, but why didn't you?" said Charles Wallace.

"Tell you what?" said Chad.

"That you're pregnant" said Charles Wallace.

"Well, first of all, how did you find out?" said Chad.

"I overheard a secret conversation between Meg and Jeremy" said Charles Wallace.

Calvin and Sam approached.

"What's going on?" said Sam.

"He's pregnant!" Charles Wallace snapped.

"I'm sorry?" said Sam.

"What the heck..." said Calvin.

"I know." Chad cried.

"We've seen it before, but this is just crazy. You're getting married" said Calvin.

"But how could Meg and I get married if I'm pregnant and it might kill Paul?" said Chad.

Charles Wallace faced his friends and said "Poor guy. He's really that guilty".

"Chad, honey, aren't you getting a little carried away? We don't even know what happened to Paul" said Sam.

"Maybe I am. It's probably just the moodiness" said Chad drying his eyes.

"Yeah, how did you get pregnant anyway?" said Calvin.

"The Misses blasted me belly" said Chad.

"Meg's bosses?" said Sam.

"They blasted you?" said Charles Wallace.

"Yeah, just right here" said Chad pointing to his belly.

"Oh my god. We never knew their magic worked like that" said Calvin.

"Well, apparently it does, Cal" said Charles Wallace. 

"Is this gonna upstage your wedding?" said Sam.

"I really hope not. I wanna be skinny when I wed" said Chad.

"And what about your career? That's a bigger problem" said Calvin.

"Jeremy said not to worry about it" said Chad.

"Right. Because you're still skinny for the time being" said Charles Wallace.

Meg and Jeremy came back.

"You okay, Chad the lad?" said Jeremy.

"I think so" said Chad.

"Hey, Jeremy. We're concerned about your singing partner." said Calvin.

"I know why, kids. It's gonna be fine for now" said Jeremy.

"But what if he has other symptoms on the stage?" said Charles Wallace.

"Yeah, I didn't think about that. We'll just have to see" said Jeremy.

"Meg, sweet... will you be okay?" said Chad.

"Of course I will. I didn't know about Murray's third pregnancy until he had his third baby. I got this" said Meg.

Chad laughed and hugged Meg.
