Chapter 14

The next morning, while the other three kids were in Wigglehouse, Meg and Chad stayed home.

Meg was running down the hall.

"Where are you going?" said Chad.

"To find the Beatles. I need to tell them I'm engaged. And you need to tell Jeremy you're pregnant" said Meg.

"I don't know, Meg. Jeremy has never seen a pregnant man before" said Chad.

"Well, neither have you and it's happening to you. At least try" said Meg.

"Well... okay" said Chad.

Meg went to find the lads while Chad knocked on Jeremy's door across the hall.

"Hey, Chad" said Jeremy.

"Hello, Jeremy. You got a minute?" said Chad.

"Yeah. Come on in." said Jeremy.

Chad came in and sat on the couch.

"Care for a glass of wine?" said Jeremy.

"No thanks. I can't" said Chad.

"Why not?" said Jeremy.

"Well... you are the oldest in your family, eh?" said Chad.

"Yeah"

"And do you remember how it was seeing your mother have your siblings as a kid?"

"Yeah. I was terrified"

"And it was hard to believe, eh?"

"Yeah, it was hard to believe".

"Okay. So this'll be even harder to believe. I'm gonna tell you the truth but you will not believe me" said Chad.

"Chad, get to your point. You're scaring me" said Jeremy.

Chad took a breath then confessed.

"I'm pregnant, Jeremy" he said.

"Oh, codswallop" said Jeremy.

"That's what I figured you'd say" said Chad.

"Come on, lad. How on earth are you pregnant?" said Jeremy.

"Meg's bosses got me pregnant with this magic of theirs" said Chad.

Jeremy smiled and rolled his eyes as if he didn't believe Chad.

Chad stood up and said "Okay. Let's try it this way".

He took Jeremy's hand and placed it on his belly. 

Jeremy couldn't feel anything yet, but it was still convincing.

"Oh, lord! You are pregnant!" he snapped.

"Now do you believe me?" said Chad.

"Yeah. How on earth are we gonna perform with you like this?" said Jeremy.

"I don't know, Jeremy, I don't know" said Chad near tears.

"Well, I guess we could while you're still skinny" said Jeremy.
