*Keira's POV*

My head was throbbing. Not that light, faint sort of headache that people overreact about. I mean that headache where you'd pass up a million bucks just to get rid of it. Ok, maybe I'm overreacting now. But you get the jist of it anyways.

Harry had piled up numerous blankets around me before he went and retrieved my latest requests. I really was lucky to have him. I mean, after the third day sick in bed I must have passed annoying days ago. But he was still tending to me, and I owed him. Big time.

I fought the urge to close my eyes and float away to dream land, but I kept resisting. I had a feeling that Harry would be back soon, and I was correct. About ten minutes later, Harry popped up at the door, balancing a platter covered with food. And a present?

His grin stretched out across his cheeks as he sat down on the edge of the bed, passing me a bowl of soup that was topped off with lots of crackers and some shredded cheese. Just the way I liked it. I smiled in appreaciation as I took the spoon in my hand and sipped on some of the broth.

"So," I said in between spoonfuls. "What do you got there?"

"Why don't you find out yourself?" He held out the gift in front of me. It wasn't very wide, but it was fairly tall. I observed it carefully, placing guesses in my head just like my dad had taught me.

*Flashback*

It was my sixth birthday, and I ran around with Roxy and Kennedy and a few other neighbourhood friends in a frenzy of giggles. I was excited, happiness bubbling over. My dad called us all over to the dining room in spite of opening gifts.

My growing feet carried me to the head of the table where I plopped down on the chair. A variety of presents overwhelmed me as my parade of friends sat on the ground, begging me to chose their's first. My fingers wiggled toward a pink and white polka dotted box with a bow wrapped around it, but my dad had a disapproving look on his face. My brows furrowed as he leaned closer and whispered in my ear.

"What could it be, Sweetie? Take a guess while we wait for mommy."

Thoughts popped through my head. A new barbie doll? Or maybe a puzzle! I suppose it could be a skipping rope too.

I sat waiting for a while, annoyance slipping through my seams. Did daddy tell me this on purpose, to see how long I could wait? I don't think so. He wasn't in the room anymore, and all my friends encouraged me to tear off the shiny paper. So I did.

The gifts piled up, as guilt seeped in. Daddy would be mad, but impatience eventually boiled over in me and I couldn't resist. Next I picked up a metalic gift bag. I pulled out a new doll, and thanked my friend Rosie. Just as I was moing the bag to the side, the lights that bounced off it caught my attention. I spun around to see an ambulance sitting in the driveway. None of my friends seemed to notice as I raced out of the room and to the door, where I saw a stretcher being removed from my house.

Confusion, fear, and loss swarmed through me at the thought of my mother hurt. But in this case, dead.

*Reality*

A flush fell over my features, thinking of that day. The most selfish of mine, in fact. I always hated gifts after that, because that day they made me take my mother for granted.

"Babe, everything ok?" Harry questioned.

"Just--cough-- peachy." I answered as I lifted the lid on the box.

I expected something cheesy. Maybe a little teddybear holding a sign that said "Get Well Soon!" Or a box of chocolates or something. But this, was just what I needed.

I grabbed Monster's Inc out of the stack of Disney movies I was presented with handed it to him. He kissed my cheek before getting up again and popping it into the player.

I always promised myself from that day forward to put people before myself, maybe that's why it felt so foreign to have somebody pampering me. But as long as it was Harry, and stayed Harry, I think I'd be ok with it.

*Kennedy's Point of View*

Because Keira came down with the flu, or something along the lines of that, Harry kicked us all out of the house for the weekend to make sure she got the rest she needed. Kind of sketchy if you ask me, but I went with it.

Louis decided we needed a beach day. So here we are, sitting on the beach in the pouring rain.

"Lou, I'm cold and tired can we please just go to a cafe or something like normal people?" I begged

"Am I normal?" He questioned.

"No bu-"

"Well then shhh." He motioned a finger to his lips, a smile creeping up on his face. He lifted me up into his arms and ran towards the water.

"Lou! No!" I cried, but it was too late to save myself. I was already underwater before I knew it. My feet hit the bottom and I sprang myself upwards. Lou had a grin plastered on his face and I splashed him.

"Ok, now it's on!" He yelled, sending a wave of the water my way. I continued to splash him back, before he pulled me close and crashed his lips against his.

He was right about all this. Life isn't about how to survive the storm, but learning to dance in the rain.
