Jieun's eyes shook as she tried to hide in her father's jacket. Watching her father and her supposed uncle, this type of situation was something she didn't want to witness but it couldn't be avoided. Her eyes widened hearing the threat. This man- he was the reason why her father had become mute? Did he mutilate his voice? Her tears fell as she sprung up and kicked Minjun's chin making him back away.
She climbed her way further up and covered her father's throat with her arms and body. "Stay away! Stay away you rat!" Her small body shook as she stared at her father who looked terrified. "Papa, please wake up! Don't leave me alone! Get out of your head." She whimpered as she gave small slaps at his face.
She sobbed as she saw her uncle glared at her. "Ah!" She was grabbed and thrown to the floor. "You were supposed to stay with me, Ujin. You promised me that you'd take everything for me." The male eyes snapped over to Jieun. "The fact that someone even touch someone who was supposed to be pure is sickening. Mother was right, we should've killed you the moment you got chosen," he let out a chuckle. "Maybe I should kill her."
He made his way over to Jieun who cried while crawling away only to trip out of fear.
"Don't," Minki mumbled as he tried his best to move but he couldn't. His mind was telling him to stay put or the punishment would get worse, but his daughter was in trouble. Why was it always his daughter? Maybe he should give up and let Inhyuk raise her. No. "She's my child." He mumbled as he stared at Minjun who gave a sharp glare. "My joy." He raised his hand, smoke slowly covered his brother who began to cough violently.
"People keep going after her," he took a few steps towards the ball of smoke. A path opened for him to stare down at his brother. "I should kill anybody who tries to hurt her now, lately I haven't done many missions. So no one thinks I'm capable of harming another since I'm a father." He muttered to himself.
A smile appeared on his lips. "Do you think, if I kill my brother people would finally know not to harm my child?" Minjun looked up coughed up blood as he reached out to grab Minki who only laughed mockingly as he punched him across the face making him stumble back. "I saved you!" Minki scoffed. "You didn't. Not a single time did you ever do. You only threatened me with love that wasn't love."
"You made me lose my voice, I couldn't sing my baby to sleep! I couldn't say her name to comfort her!" Tears filled his eyes. "You took so many memories from me! You took something from me I can't have back!" He shouted as he stared down at his brother. "So please. Just leave me alone. Ujin died, I'm not him. Not anymore." He took a few steps away before the smoke disappeared.
"Jieun!" He ran over and hugged her. She cried while hugging her father tightly. Minjun stared at the sky unsure how to feel. He got everything he wanted, he used to have Ujin but he lost him. Losing something- someone who was his pillar took a toll. When did he stop being a caring brother? Why was he unpleasantly possessive? He felt a sharp pain in his throat, trying to speak but nothing came out, he sat up and touched his throat.
"That's unfortunate," Minki spoke nonchalantly as he began to walk away.
