Chapter 22: Weekend
Hermione walked into the living room, only to find Draco silently talking to their two year old. 'Good morning.' she said, making Draco look up and Narcissa cheer 'Mummy's awake!' Draco smiled as he got up from the couch with Narcissa in his arms before walking over to Hermione. 'Narcissa and I had a great idea.'
'And what might this great idea be?' Hermione asked, tickling Narcissa on her belly, making her giggle and wiggle in Draco's arms. 'We want to go feed the ducks!' Narcissa said with a big smile on her face. 'In the park?' Hermione asked.
Narcissa nodded her head as she lifted her thumb up to her mouth. 'No, don't do that.' Draco said, taking her small hand in his and bringing it down again. Hermione gave Draco a small smile before nodding. 'Okay, but first we're going to get dressed.' Hermione said.
'I am dressed mummy.' Narcissa called.
Hermione looked at her daughter, who was still in her pyjamas. 'I'm sure we can find something else for you to wear.' Hermione winked.
'While mummy's going to get dressed herself, I'll start with dressing you.' Draco said.
'No, I want mummy to dress me.' Narcissa said.
Draco sighed and shook his head. 'If we let mummy dress you, we'll still be here in two hours because she won't be ready herself.'
'I'm not taking that long!' Hermione defended.
Draco raised his eyebrows at his wife, who just shook her head as she took Narcissa in her arms. 'Why don't you make us some breakfast and I'll get the two of us ready.' Hermione told him before turning around and walking out of the living room and towards the hallway. She takes a right turn and walks into the lilac baby room. She puts Narcissa back down on the ground before making her way over to Narcissa's wardrobe. 'What would you like to wear today?' Hermione asked. Narcissa came up to her as Hermione opened the white wardrobe. Narcissa stared inside before pointing at her favourite lilac "princess dress" as she called it. 'It's quite chilly outside honey.' Hermione said. Narcissa shook her head as she tucked on the end of her dress. 'I want to wear this one.' Narcissa said. Hermione gave her daughter a small smile before nodding. 'Alright then, we'll just get you some thick tights underneath.' Hermione said as she grabbed everything she needed before getting Narcissa to the bathroom, letting her take a shower, brush her teeth and getting her dressed. 'Daddy's got your breakfast ready in the kitchen.' Hermione told her after she finished braiding Narcissa's hair into two small plats. Narcissa nodded before hurrying out of her room. Hermione made her way over to her own room, stopping in front of the closet to get her clothes before making her way over to the bathroom to get herself ready. About thirty minutes later the little family was all dressed and on their way towards the park nearby to feed the ducks. Narcissa was seated in her stroller, which Draco was pushing with Hermione on his right side, her hand wrapped around his arm. They made a right turn and walked into the park. Hermione turned to look ahead and saw the bench she had been reading on when Draco had showed up, telling her about this girl he was in love with. Hermione smiled to herself as she shook her head. Since their last year at Hogwarts he had always been one to make her smile at unexpected moments, even if he wasn't nearby, memories could have the same effect. Hermione bit down on her lip as she looked up at her husband. How did she ever get this lucky? If you would've told her she would be married to Draco Malfoy, walking with him and their two year old daughter in the park, she wouldn't have believed it. She might not even have believed it if you'd tell her when she was in Australia a few years back. A small part of her had kept her from coming back to the UK. Perhaps that's the small part that brought her to Holland and after a while moved in with Krum in New York. If you would've told her everything that happened the past few years, especially the two years after they left Hogwarts, she wouldn't have believed it either. It's funny and strange how certain things work out and where you end up. She couldn't imagine her life without Draco and Narcissa anymore. It has been two crazy years, raising their little girl, but, from the looks of it, she felt like they've done a good job. Narcissa called for Draco to get her out of her stroller, because she wanted to walk herself. 'Don't go too fast honey.' Hermione called after her daughter who runs to the grass before turning and running to the other side, further away from her parents. 'She'll be fine.' Draco said, wrapping his arm around Hermione and planting a kiss on her temple. 'She'll be perfectly fine.'
Hermione looked up and gave him a small smile as she nodded her head. They made their way over to the pond, where a few ducks were calmly drifting on the surface of the water, that until Narcissa stopped in front of the pond and started squealing. Hermione chuckled at her overexcited daughter chanting for her father to give her some bread for the ducks. When Narcissa had a small piece of bread in her hand she lifted her hand up and threw it in the water, it just didn't get very far, making the ducks come closer to the grass than Narcissa would've liked to come. She lifted both of her arms up to Draco, indicating for him to pick her up. Draco chuckled and knelt down next to her. 'Just give them some bread, they won't hurt you.' Draco told her. 'You don't have to be afraid.' Hermione said, stopping a few feet away from the two of them. Narcissa looked at her mother before she slowly nodded and turned back to the ducks before throwing another piece of bread their way. A small smile spread across Narcissa's face as the ducks slightly walked away from her, which made her throw some more bread for them in the water. 'I'll be right back.' Hermione told Draco. Draco turned to look over his shoulder and raised his eyebrows. 'Where are you going?'
'I'll be right back.' she told him again before turning around and walking down the path. After a minute she was standing in front of the bench, the bench she had briefly seen when they were making their way over to the pond. She bit her lip and sat down on the bench. She looked around her, taking in her surroundings. Everything still seemed the same, only there were flowers popping out of the ground instead of brown leaves being scattered across the grass. It had been several years ago since she found herself reading here before Draco interrupted her peace and quiet once more. It had been difficult for her, to leave Viktor like that, after having told him she'd marry him. She was glad they were still friends and that he had found another girl to love, someone who loved him as much as he loved her. He deserved someone like that. A small smile appeared on Hermione's face as she thought back to the phone call from a few months back. Valentina had called her to tell her she was pregnant. She had sounded so excited and Hermione could hear, when Antonio had taken the phone from his wife, Antonio was quite emotional and she knew he was smiling on the other end of the phone call. Valentina had told her Hermione had been the first to know, apart from Valentina and Antonio themselves of course. Hermione had been so happy to hear the news and had talked to Valentina for a whole hour before ending the call, because the call alone would be very expensive. Hermione had promised Valentina to Skype soon. A few days ago Valentina and herself had talked again, on Skype, and Valentina had showed her, her baby bump, which was already clearly visible and Hermione could still remember how much her own baby bump was in the way when she tried to sleep at that point. In two months Valentina would give birth to a little baby girl or boy. Valentina had told her everything went great. The restaurant had to be made bigger, because more and more people wanted to eat in their restaurant. There was even a waiting list and you had to make reservations to be sure of a table. The baby room was all ready now and Antonio had been the best husband she could've wished for, bringing her ice cream whenever she wanted. Hermione had chuckled at this. She missed her friends from Italy. Her travelling had brought her new friends and new experiences and that was something Hermione held close to her heart. 'You okay?' Draco asked as he sat down next to Hermione. Hermione turned to look at him and gave him a soft kiss on the lips before giving Narcissa a kiss on the forehead. 'I'm great.' she told him. Draco gave her a small smile and nodded as he looked around him with Narcissa on his lap, whom was playing with a flower she must've picked out of the grass after having given all the bread to the ducks in the pond. 'This is where I told you I needed some advice, isn't it?' Draco smiled.
Hermione chuckled as she placed her hand on his arm. 'It is.'
'It feels like a life time ago.' Draco said.
'It really does.' Hermione agreed with a sigh as she rested her head on his shoulder. She felt Draco press a kiss on top of her head before resting his head against hers.
'I love you.' he said.
'I love you too.'
'Me too.' Narcissa smiled, offering Hermione the flower she had been holding before wrapping her small, chubby, arms around both of them, making both of her parents chuckle.'Do you ever miss it being just the two of us?' Draco asked. Hermione looked away from the television to look at her husband next to her. 'Sometimes, but then I see what we've made and it's just perfect again.' Hermione smiled. Draco smiled and nodded, pulling her closer to him. Hermione had just put Narcissa down in bed, who had almost immediately fallen asleep when Hermione had opened the story book she was going to read from. It was later then Hermione would've wanted, but dinner in the restaurant took longer than they had thought, which was okay. 'Two years.' Draco sighed. Hermione nodded. 'I know.'
'It's crazy how time flies by without you even noticing it.' Draco stated.
Hermione chuckled. 'It really is.' she agreed.
'I mean she's two, our little girl is two already. Before we know it she's eighteen.'
'Ho there, calm down there boy.' Hermione said. 'She's still two, not sixteen.' Hermione told him.
Draco chuckled. 'They grow up faster than you think love.' he said.
'Before you know it she doesn't want you to help her get dressed and she wants to wash her hair by herself or brush her hair by herself.' Draco said.
'You're torturing me!' Hermione said.
Draco chuckled. 'Do you want more kids?' Draco asked.
Hermione turned to look at him and gave him a small smile. 'Maybe someday, but now I'm fine with it just being the three of us.' she said softly before gently pressing her lips against his.A/N:
Hi there,
I saw a few of you have seen Insurgent in the comment section of chapter 21. What did you think of it? I didn't really like it tbh, Idk it's probably a great movie when you haven't read the book, but I have and because of that I didn't really like the movie. I had the same with Divergent, I saw it, loved it, I read the book (and the other two right after the first one), saw the movie again and didn't like it anymore. Perhaps it's just me hahah
So onto the question of the week because I've got no more nonsense to tell you hahah: Which chapter did you like the most of Love doesn't lie and What is this love you're talking about? (I mean like one chapter, not one from both books, just one in general ;p )
My answer: I absolutely loved the chapter where they got married. Chapter 11: I do, do I? It was so cute to write and to come up with a look for Hermione, the dress, the hair etc. I also absolutely loved writing the chapter where she got back and she saw Draco again for the first time. OMG and the one in Verona, when she was there by herself and she was wandering around Casa di Giulietta. Okay those were more than one, great gurl, you can't even answer your own question properly *face palm* ..... and I'm talking to myself....... sorryAlso Happy Easter everyone! :)
lots of love
xx
