Chapter 26: Hogwarts

Narcissa sat back in her seat in the, what it seemed, last empty compartment before turning to the window, only to see her family trying to find them in the Hogwarts Express. She saw her father's arm tightly wrapped around her mother's shoulders and her little sister pointing at the window, behind which she was seated, before Ginny met her gaze and waved. Ginny nudged Harry on the arm, probably saying Jean found the right compartment. 'This is going to be a long journey.' James said, sitting down opposite her. 'It's okay though.' he shrugged. 'There's a sweets-trolley where you can buy candy.' he smirked.

'Sounds nice.' Narcissa smiled, turning back to the window. 'Where are your friends?' she asked.

'Oh in another compartment.' James shrugged.

'Don't you want to sit with them? Because if you want you can go, I'll be fine on my own.' Narcissa asked.

James gave her a small smile. 'Nah, I'm alright here, much more space.' he said, spreading his legs out on the bench he's seated on. 'It would be cool if you'd be sorted in Gryffindor.' James said, turning to look at Narcissa. 'That way I don't have to pity you when you lose the housecup to Gryffindor.' he smirked.

'Such pride.' Narcissa said, shaking her head.

'Nothing wrong with a little pride.'

'A little? No. The amount you own. Debatable.'

James laughed. 'I think I've got a great partner in crime out of you.'

'Excuse you? I wasn't planning on getting into any sort of trouble.'

'Just wait.' he smirked.

Narcissa rolled her eyes and got up to get her book out of her trunk. 'You're going to read?' James asked.

'Yes? Problem with that.'

James shrugged. 'I'm not interesting enough?'

'Apparently not.' Narcissa said. James laughed as he leaned back against the wall. 'Alright then, I'm going to have a nap in that case.' he said, closing his eyes.

'Sweet dreams.' Narcissa said, opening her book.

'Save journey.'

'Save journey?' Narcissa asked, looking up at him.

'Why yes, you're going on a trip through wondrous worlds in that book, aren't you? So save journey.'

'Just Verona, Italy.' Narcissa chuckled.

'Verona, Italy?'

'Mum's favourite book, she gave me her copy.' Narcissa said, showing him the cover.

'Romeo and Juliet.' James read out loud, to which Narcissa nodded in response. 'Never heard of it.'

'It's a classic!' Narcissa gasped. 'Everyone knows Romeo and Juliet.'

'Yes, but has everyone read it?' James asked with one eyebrow raised.

'I suppose not.' Narcissa shrugged.

'Exactly. Now what's the story about?'

'Why don't you read it yourself?' Narcissa asked, holding her book out for him to take. James looked at it before shrugging. 'Don't expect to get it back soon.' James said, taking it.

'Keep it as long as you want, Potter.' Narcissa said, getting up to get one of the schoolbooks to read.

Narcissa looked up from her book when she heard someone knock on the glass window in the door, only to see a girl with brown long hair opening the door. James had gone off to the toilet, leaving Narcissa to peacefully read without a comment, or him reading the lines out loud, now and again.
