Chapter 44: Reassurance

'Thank you Honey.' Narcissa said after Honey brought James and her tea.

'If Honey can do something else for Miss Malfoy and Mister Potter, just let Honey know.' Honey told her before leaving the two students be.
'Are you really okay?' James asked.
'I'm fine.' Narcissa told him, waving it away.
'So what happened?'
'Christopher and I had an argument, that's all. It's really nothing.' she shrugged.
'It doesn't look like nothing.' James said. 'But if you don't want to talk about it, I understand, and if you do, I'm here.'
Narcissa looked up at him and sighed, lifting her cup of tea up to her lips before taking a sip and placing it back down. 'The argument was about you.'
James raised his eyebrows. 'Me? Why?'
'He was just talking bullshit and I disagreed and eventually walked away.' she told him. 'It was stupid.'
'Did you talk to him after that?'
'No, I came to you, but the Fat Lady told me you weren't inside so I waited out at the stairs where you found me.'
'Were you waiting long?'
'No, just five minutes or so.'
James nodded. 'What did he say?'
She looked up and stared at him for a moment, contemplating whether it would be a good idea to tell him what the argument was about. 'He said I shouldn't have forgiven you after all those months in which you didn't talk to me.' she said eventually, leaving the last thing Christopher had thrown at her out, feeling like this would only put James and her friendship into an awkward position, a position she didn't want their friendship to be pushed into. James stared at her blankly for a second before an expression formed on his face that was a mix of nervousness, sadness and anger. 'Why did you act the way you did during those months?' Narcissa asked after she didn't get a response in word form.
'I was acting stupid and weird and when I did want to talk to you I felt like I had screwed up so much that it was too late.'
'James, we're friends. Obviously we'll go through some tough times, but those are the moments you should be able to build on your friends. You should've just come and talk to me.'
'I know.' James said. 'And I'm sorry for the way I acted.'
'It's okay.' Narcissa told him, offering him a small smile. 'Have you talked to Parkinson?'
'I have.' James nodded. 'It was actually a good talk.'
'Good.' Narcissa smiled. 'So things are worked out now?'
'They are.'
'I'm proud of you James.'
'Yeah, yeah.' he muttered, waving it away, but finding it hard to keep the smile off his face to which Narcissa chuckled.

Narcissa and James walked back to the stairs where they would go their separate ways to their own house's common rooms. They just passed the corner when someone called Narcissa. They both stopped and looked over their shoulder. 'Christopher?'
'Thank Merlin I found you, I've been looking all over for you.' Christopher says, jogging up to them.
'Are you okay?'
Christopher nodded, stopping a few feet in front of them. His eyes darted to James for a moment before they found Narcissa again. 'Can we talk?'
Narcissa sighed and eventually nodded. 'I'll catch up with you later.' Narcissa told James. James nodded. 'Will you be okay?'
'Yeah.' Narcissa said, offering him a small smile. James nodded again and turned the corner, disappearing from view. Narcissa turned back to Christopher and he motioned for her to walk with him. 'I just wanted to say I'm sorry for what happened. I shouldn't have said what I did, I'm just worried that you'll be disappointed or hurt again.' he told her.
Narcissa looked up at him. 'It's okay, I might've overreacted.'
'You didn't. It was a normal reaction. You just wanted to defend your friend and that's admirable even with the fact he treated you badly. And if you want to be friends with him, that's your choice and I support you with that. If you're happy then I'm happy.'
'Thank you Christopher. That's good to hear.' Narcissa smiled, reaching out and taking his hand. Christopher looked down and when he met her gaze, a broad grin was visible on his face. 'I wish I had arranged something cute and romantic, but we have quidditch practice.'
Narcissa laughed. 'We don't want Clara to be mad at us.'
'We sure don't.' Christopher said in a serious tone before cracking a smile.

A/N:

Sorry it took so long again, I wish I wasn't so busy with school, but unfortunately I can't change the amount of work they give us to do :/ It sucks to not have any time to write and to let you all wait so long every time! I'll try to finish the new chapter way quicker than this one, because this took extremely long and that shouldn't be allowed xd

Thank you once again for being so patient! You're the best!

Lots of love

xx
