Chapter 3: Moving on

Draco sighed and turned on his other side, for the fifth time in two hours. It was one of those nights again. Hermione had left him and everyone she loved five months ago. He still couldn't believe she had just ran off. It seemed like the easiest thing to do for her. It seemed like, the only one who couldn't cope with the fact that she was gone was himself. Draco got out of his bed and walked to the kitchen, making himself some tea. Perhaps that would calm him down. Just as he threw the teabag away he heard footsteps behind him. He turned to see Ginny standing behind him.
'Can't sleep?'
Draco shook his head. Ginny sighed and stepped closer to the kitchen counter, making tea for herself as well.
'Me neither.'
'What's keeping you up?' Draco asked.
'Hermione.'
Draco nodded.
'She's fine, I know she is. She wrote about this lovely couple she's staying with, she's fine.' Ginny said softly.
Draco didn't respond.
'I'm sorry. She'll write to you, I know she will.' Ginny said turning to look at Draco, her temporarily roommate.
'I don't think so. It's been five months Gin.' Draco sighed.
'She send us a card after she had been gone for, what four months? That's just a month ago.' Ginny said.
'You'll get one.' Ginny said placing her hand on his shoulder before walking around him with her steaming cup of tea, towards the living room.
'You shouldn't forget she left with a reason.' Ginny said.
Draco sat down next to her on the couch.
'She didn't want to hurt people, especially not you, but she knew she had to go. I'm not defending her actions, because I still think it's absolutely ridiculous, but I think this will be good for her in some way. She needs to find a way to cope with everything that has happened. She needs to find herself again.' Ginny said.
'She'll come back.'
'Five months Ginny, before you know it, it has been a year, perhaps two then three, then five, then ten and so on. You can't know if she'll come back.' Draco said.
'Of course I know. Her parents are here, her friends are here, YOU are here. Her life is here. She has to come back eventually.' Ginny stated.
Draco shook his head.
'She's already got new friends, she can build up a life somewhere else, face the facts Gin, she doesn't have to come back if she doesn't want to.' Draco said.
'But she will come back. Dammit Draco, don't be so negative!' Ginny said frustrated.
'I'm sorry.' Draco sighed brushing his hand through his hair.
'Just focus on work and try to have some fun.' Ginny said.
'I'll do my best.' Draco said.

Draco was seated on the couch, feet up, book in his hands. Draco just flipped the page when Ginny walked into the living room after a long day of Quidditch training.
'Good evening.' Draco said not looking up from his book.
'There's Chinese on the kitchen counter for you. Harry's gone to the pub with Ron.' Draco informed her.
'Draco.' Ginny said.
Draco looked up from his book and saw mud on her face, her cheeks were rosy and her hair looked like a mess.
'Harsh training hu?' Draco asked.
'What are you doing?'
'I'm reading?'
Ginny sighed and shook her head.
'I mean here? Why aren't you out with Harry and Ron?' Ginny asked.
'I didn't feel like it.'
'You never do! Draco, why don't you just go out there. Meet people. Go on a date! I know someone who you'd like.' Ginny said.
Draco shook his head.
'You've been sitting here every single night for the past five months, go out there! Have fun!' Ginny said.
'I'm fine sitting here on this couch.' Draco said.
Ginny rolled her eyes.
'You can't keep living like this Draco.' Ginny said.
'If you want me to move out, you can just say so.' Draco said.
'Don't do that, you know I don't want you to move out. I want you to live your life, experience things, make memories.' Ginny said.
'I'm-'
'You're waiting for Hermione to come back. To come back home. But you don't know how long that will take and in what state she will be when she returns! You don't know if she'll be the same Hermione whom you love. She's going through stuff, and that kind of stuff changes people. Look at yourself, you've gone from the awful brat you were to this amazing man. You shouldn't put your life on hold because of her! You should move on.' Ginny exclaimed.
Draco looked up at her, not knowing what to respond to her sudden outburst.
'You know I can't do that.' he said looking her straight in the eyes.
'Perhaps you should learn to do that, because you can't keep living like this Draco, it's not healthy!' Ginny said.
'And you're one to talk! You're training every single day till late in the evening! Yes Harry has to go to work, but he'd like to come home to his girlfriend! He misses you! Plus you can't sleep either, because of the fact Hermione's gone. So don't start lecturing about my life, because you've got things to sort out yourself!' Draco exclaimed.
Ginny shot him a deathly glare.
'I'm going to take a shower.' she said turning around.
Draco felt a shot of pain in his stomach as Ginny walked away, he shouldn't have said that. He waited for her to take a shower and get changed into her pyjama's before he came up to her in the kitchen as she warmed her dinner up.
'I'm sorry.' Draco said.
Ginny sighed and turned to look at him.
'Me too.'
'And I know you're right. I just can't move on.'
'And I know I haven't been around much.' Ginny said.
Ginny spread her arms out and wrapped them around Draco, giving him a tight hug.
'You want to talk about it?' Ginny asked.
Draco shrugged, pulling away.
'Come on, I'll tell you everything I know about what's going on now.' Ginny said taking her, now heated, Chinese food and walking after Draco into the living room.
'After she left she stayed in Spain for a month, travelled on to France, stayed there for a month and now she's in Italy, Verona.' Ginny said.
'She's in Italy now?'
'As far as I know.' Ginny shrugs.
'She met this couple underneath Juliet's balcony or something, no idea what that means.' Ginny chuckled.
'She's staying with them. Helping them out in their restaurant that just opened. She said everything was fine, she missed everyone, but she knew she couldn't come back before she'd done what she needed to do.'
'Find herself and cope with everything.' Draco sighed.
Ginny nodded.
'What are the names of the couple?'
'That's a good one, erm, Valentin...no Valentina and.... what was his name again? Erm..... Antoin, no, Anton? No that's not it..... Antonio! That's it! Valentina and Antonio. They seem to be nice people as she describes them.' Ginny says taking a bite of her food.
'Valentina and Antonio.' Draco said.
'Gin.' Draco said looking up at her.
Ginny raised her eyebrows and turned to him.
'I've got an idea.'
'And that is?'
