Katara's POV

Why is she here? Not that I'm upset by her being here it's just a shock to the system, I haven't called her for a while is that it? Well it doesn't matter why she's here, what matters is she's meeting Aang.

"Hi Gran Gran, you should've told me you were coming to the city today", I could see Aang's body language change in the corner of my eye, almost like he was standing to attention.

"Message? I don't know who that is", she mumbled as she approached the table, should've seen that coming.

"Mrs Gran Gran its wonderful to meet you, I'm Aang", he jumped out of his seat and shook her hand firmly.

"Call me Kanna kid", she looked Aang up and down confusedly before sitting down opposite us. "You've been ignoring my calls", her attention shot immediately back to me.

"It's been a little hectic here lately, how about we schedule a weekly call in advance so I'll definitely be able to answer", I smiled hoping to have found the answer.

"You have a life now?", she raised a brow, I wasn't expecting this kind of attitude from her, Aang chuckled beside me. "I'm only joking, no need to pull that face", she laughed lightly.

"Okay, well what're you doing here in Iroh's?", I realised I was pulling my telling off face and quickly shook it off.

"He's an old friend, we met each other through grief, his son died a year after your mother did, crazy world huh?", Gran Gran smiled but I could tell she was forcing it, but if I question her she'll snap so I better be quiet for a second.

"So how did they both die? Your daughter and his son?", Aang asked, a little out of the blue but I'm not offended by it, but I'll let Gran Gran explain.

"At home we were not safe, we lived in a tight run city ruled by the fire benders, so with us being water descendants, that didn't go down well", she sighed.

"City? I thought you only lived in a small town?", Aang looked at me confusedly.

"It was a city, before the war broke out, fire benders were informed to dispose of any other benders as they are considered useless to their world, long story short, Kanna died trying to save those who could not save themselves", Gran Grans eyes lowered, I was quick to hold her hand over the table to show her I'm here for her.

"And Iroh's son?", Aang looked at our hands then at Gran Gran.

"He also killed, the war between the benders lasted a long time, and some still think it's happening, preparing themselves for a second round", she spoke quieter, to avoid anyone overbearing what she's saying.

"How was he killed?", Aang leant in also lowering his voice.

"There was another attack planned, but this time onto the earth benders, you don't want to make an earth bender angry do you?", she shook her head.

I immediately put a hand to the back of my head where I was hit with concrete the other night, yeah don't want to annoy an earth bender again.

"But enough about all that, hows the date going? Hope I haven't interrupted it?", Her eyes lit up again, looking at Aang and I, god I knew this was coming.

"We aren't on a date Gran Gran", I blushed laughing lightly.

"Well technically we-", Aang began to speak so I quickly bended his glass of water to fall and spill onto him.

"Oh no, you should go wash that up right away", I smiled nudging him out of the booth, he huffed and did as he was told.

"Wasn't he the boy who saved you from that car?", her eyes followed Aang as he walked out, "he was pretty quick to move you out of the way", I could see the cogs in her brain moving, she's too smart for me to lie, but I can't tell her so she'll have to figure it out herself.
