We stayed at the cliff for an hour or so, and just talked about everything. Ezra was more interesting than I'd ever imagine. I was worried I'll bore him to death with my stories- I was just seventeen after all- but he absorbed every little thing that came out of my mouth like a sponge.
"What's your deepest fear?" He asks all of a sudden breaking the comfortable silence that had fallen between us.
"Honestly? Death. I know it's stupid to fear the inevitable, but death has touched my life way too many times at the short years I've been alive"
"No, it's not stupid, I get that. You're a strong girl Aria, considering what you've been through"
I smiled up at him, and hugged him closer. We were sitting at the hood of his car, gazing down at the city lights.
"What's yours?"I asked and he frowned.
"Spiders"
"Ezra!"
"Fine fine, I guess the feeling I'm waisting my life. It had always haunted me, that idea of being useless. Of not being enough"
"You're not useless"I deadpanned. "And trust me when I say you're more than enough"
He shook his head "Aria, you can't know that. I mean look at me"
"I am" I said boldly and my heart started beating louder when his eyes snapped on mine. The intensity of his stare made me lightheaded, and before I could react, he leaned in, brushing his lips on mine softly.
He drew back, leaving a tangy sensation on mine. "Where have you been on my life" He breathed touching his forehead on mine.
"Waiting"I admitted and let my dark hair fall in my face, in an attempt to hide my blazing cheeks.
"Do you want to spend the night?"
This time I was sure my heart would burst out of my chest.
"You're sure? What if anyone sees us?"
"No one's out right now, and besides you can't go home, it's too late in the night"
"You're right, my dad will flip. Good thing he thinks I'm staying over Hanna's place."
"That's settled then." He smiled and hoped off the car's hood, holding a hand up to me to help me get down.
The alcohol from the drink I had in the party had gone out of my system by now but I still didn't trust my heels to keep me balanced.
Ezra must have seen my hesitation, because before I know it he's lifting me up and carrying me like a bride around the car.
"Ezra! Put me down immediately!"I screeched my face hot from embarrassment.
"Not happening"
"Put me down!" I cried again "I'm so heavy"
Ezra put me down then and I sighed in relief, half expecting him to rub his back, but realized he only let me go because we were at the passenger's door.
Ezra laughed and opened the door for me "Aria please, you weigh less than a feather"
I ignored him and got in the car slamming the door.He just laughed again before making his way to the other side of the car and getting in himself.
"You look cute when you're angry"
"Just drive"
"Yes mame"He mocked salute and started the car.
I rolled my eyes and checked my phone.I had a message from Emily asking if I'd gotten home okay.I frowned and quickly replied, saying that I had and I'll call them tomorrow.
