Chapter 24

Relief flooded my veins when the final bell on friday rang, promising a good weekend. Well it would be good for the rest of Rosewood's population.

I spotted Emily across the parking lot and made my way there along with Hanna.

"Did you talk to her yet?" Emily asked when we were close enough making me sigh.

"No Em, I didn't. But you know it's not my fault. I've been trying all week but  Spencer has been avoiding me like the plague".

Speaking of which, Spencer was leaning across her Jeep at the other side of the lot, talking to Toby.

I thruster my bag into Em's car since she was my ride, and strode over to where they were standing.

Once Spencer saw me she immediately lost her carefree smile and put on the infamous Hastings frown.

"Aria. Long time no see" Toby smiled at me like nothing was wrong and that's when I realized one thing. Spence had kept my secret.

I smiled and decided on a different course of action. If the mountain doesn't come to you, you go at the mountain." Will you guys be going to the fair tomorrow?"

"We were just talking about it." Toby seemed elated which only made Spencer angrier."I haven't been to one in so long, I was just saying to gather the whole group and go. I've already made plans with Caleb to drive you guys there. So see you tomorrow at eight?"

"Yup" I said popping the 'p' since I knew how much Spence hated that "see you guys there. Bye Spencer I love you" I kissed her cheek and was gone before she had time to react.

I knew we were both being extremely immature, but all the theatrics beside, it was serious. And I now knew what I had to do.

"What was that?" Hanna pointed amused at 'Spoby' where Spence was still cupping the cheek I had kissed and glaring at me.

"Oh that was me trying to make things tight. Your boyfriend is driving me to the fair. I'll third wheel your ride"

"No you won't. They'll be driving me too"Em said unlocking her car and driving away.

"Aren't you coming with Maya?"

Emily turned on the air-conditioning to hot since it was already cold and started driving again" I'll meet her there, Mom thinks it's better if I ride with you guys since it's the first fair without..."

She trailed off looking ahead, but we all knew what she was talking about.Alison.

"Yeah, that's probably for the best." Hanna mumbled and it was only then that I remembered my encounter with Jason and his promise or should I say threat to see me at the fair.

I decided not to mention it since it would make Emily upset and instead told her to drop me off at Ezra's apartment.

Emily immediately pulled over and both girls turned around to stare at me with open mouths.

"What?"

"You're going to his apartment?!" Em asked followed by Hanna, "In the middle of the freaking day?"

"Yeah why are you guys freaking out about this?"

"Because it's dangerous Aria!" They both screeched in unison making me flinch. I didn't expect them to react this way since I told them I spend a lot of time in his apartment but suddenly, the situation seemed a lot more real.

"Look I understand where you're coming from, but his house is perfectly safe. No one knows he lives there and besides we have to move forward not backwards"
