The sound of rain woke me up and the grey light coming through the window casted strange shadows on our sleeping forms.
Ezra was still sound asleep so I carefully untangled myself from the sheets and walked to the window.
Rosewood was covered in fog and the rain only added to the beautiful image.
With my head pounding from last night's drinking activities I made my way to the bathroom and after I was done using the toilet, I started on the mess that was my hair.
When I looked somewhat presentable, I took it upon me to make breakfast. And by breakfast I mean coffee.
"What are you doing?" Ezra startled me halfway into pouring some sugar in the heavenly liquid.
I turned to look at him and my heart melted a little.
He was rubbing his eye while yawning, and his black curls were all over the place, eyelids heavy with sleep.
This early in the morning, with his guards down, Ezra was straight up adorable.
"Coffee" I answered, "want some?"
"Sure" he took a seat on the counter and I passed his a steaming mug.
"How come you're up so early? I mean since you apologized to my pillows last night I would have thought you'd be out until noon"
I ignored the pillows mention, and looked out of the window, taking a ship from my mug.
"I love the rain" I admitted "I love the gloomy atmosphere and I most certainly love the smell of soil after the rain"
I looked at him to see if he thought I was completely crazy since most people hated the rain, but instead Ezra was looking at me with a smile.
"Me too. Rainy days are my favorites. But then again I'm a writer" he joked and I cracked a smile at the stereotypical thought.
"Speaking of which, I think you promised to show me your work about...a month ago"
I blanked. A month? Has it been one month since I laid my eyes on him in that bar.
"I-I don't know. My poetry is beyond hideous and I'd just make a fool of myself"
Ezra put his coffee down and came to me, brushing a dark lock behind my ear.
"I'd loved to hear just one poem of yours"
I gulped at the proximity and nodded. Damn him and his blue eyes. I was always compelled to do whatever he wanted.
"Okay let me grab my phone" I walked to the pile of clothes that were on the floor and after some fumbling I pulled out my phone, resuming my place on the counter.
"Promise me you won't laugh"
"I promise"
I took a breath and read,
"
I was small once
Not a hint of dash
Smoke made of dust
Smiles that wouldn't lastDemons who haunt my dreams
Are the reason of my screams
But that's all in the past
Cause I am free at lastI just wanna die
And come back to life
As a butterfly
That would be alrightI would spread my wings
Show everyone my tricks
And they would forget
Why they are upset"
