Roman POV

A completely ordinary day. Or at least I thought it was going to be an ordinary day when I arrived at the arena. But that probably couldn't have been further from the truth.

As usual we passed the time backstage until the show with the usual and partly boring routine. A meeting to go through the plans and the script for that day. Then maybe photo shoots and interviews. Training, filming and rehearsals also took up a lot of time. And of course, every now and then, meetings with fans and commitments to charity. Of course, the latter two things were the best and most rewarding part of our work. The sparkle in the eyes of the smallest fans was worth all the effort and hate.

I was just making my way to the ring with some of the other guys to rehearse our matches for the evening when Amanda from the makeup department walked past us. But she was not alone. She had a woman with her that I didn't know and she was talking to her the whole time straight.

"Hey, Seth. Do you have any idea who that is next to Amanda?" I asked Seth who was standing right next to me.

Since Seth was always up to date with the latest rumors and happenings backstage, my chances were pretty good to hear something from him. I usually called it gossiping, but he was of the opinion that he just likes to be well informed about everything. Well, that was one way to put it.

"Hmm... no, I don't know. I've never seen her before. But I guess she'll work in hair or makeup when she's walking around with Amanda. She is probably new. If you want, I'm sure I can find out for you." he babbled, though I barely listened to him.

My eyes lingered on the new face. She was a beautiful woman, no doubt about it. Yet she looked very fragile. And it looked like she hadn't slept for ages. Even the makeup she wore could hardly hide the dark shadows under her eyes.

In addition, she made an incredibly sad impression. I immediately asked myself what might have happened to her in life. Something in me would have loved to take her in my arms and comfort her.

Suddenly our eyes met and I saw how the mystery woman blushed. She quickly lowered her gaze again. But my eyes still followed her. I didn't know why, but I didn't care at that moment. When she looked over her shoulder and our eyes met again, her face became even redder than before, if that was possible. She seemed very shy to me.

But then she hid her beautiful face behind her hair, so that it was no longer possible for me to look at her. What a shame. I would have liked to try to reveal her secret.

And then she suddenly was gone again. I realized that this whole encounter had lasted only a few seconds. Still, it was enough to make me wonder who she was and why she looked so sad.

"Oh I think I know what's going on. The big man likes the new girl." he teased me.

"Stop it Seth!" I said, but had little hope that he would actually stop.

"It's totally okay, Roman. She's cute. And your divorce was two years ago. So you can start looking for a new lady," he replied.

I decided not to answer. I would not have known what to say anyway.

Of course, she was beautiful. And yes, she had immediately attracted my attention. But that did not mean that I liked her. She was just the new girl, so it was normal to look. Or at least that was what I tried to tell myself.
