Lisa's POV
I woke up because Kuma was licking my cheeks.
Arf!
Arf!
"Hey buddy.....Stop! I'm still sleepy." I talked to him but he keeps on bugging me. I have no choice that's why I get up already and sat down on the bed. Then, I carried Kuma and put him on my lap.
"Are you hungry?"
"I fed him already." I looked in the direction where the voice came from and then I saw Mrs. Kim standing at the door.
"Good morning, Mrs. Kim", I smiled at her.
"I cooked you breakfast. I know you didn't eat last night. So you must eat now," she said.
"I ate—."
"Will you still lie to me, Lisa?" Mrs. Kim didn't let me finished talking. "You didn't even touched the food I brought to you last night. You drink wine again." The old woman started scolding me this morning. I put Kuma down and walked towards her.
"Mrs. Kim, Don't get mad at me. I couldn't sleep last night so I drank only one glass of wine," as I explained and give her a hug. Mrs. Kim suddenly hit me hard on the arm which starled me.
"Aww! Why did you do that?! You do not love me anymore?", I whined while grinning at her.
"Because you're so stubborn!" There was a sadness in her eyes again. Even if Mrs. Kim doesn't say it, I know that she is worried about me.
"I'm okay, grandma. Don't worry!", I said softly and smile to her. "Let's eat now".
"I ate at home with Tzu". She removed my arm on her shoulder. "I'll just prepare the food for you," said Mrs. Kim and went straight to the kitchen.
While I was eating, Mrs. Kim talked to me. "Today is Jisoo's birthday", she mentioned while she was busy putting all the dishes she made for me inside the refrigerator.
I stopped eating for awhile. I almost forgot today is Unnie's birthday. Should I come over there or not? I asked myself.
"I know what you're thinking. You should go to Seoul and bring this dried squid for her." Mrs. Kim said. Can she reads what's on my mind?
"Alright. I'm done eating. I'm going to take a shower now. You should go to the market. Tzuyu is waiting for you there." Mrs. Kim followed what I've said and walked out of the house. Then, I noticed she was struggling on walking by her own.
"Aigoo! What happened to you, grandma? Does your leg hurt?", I asked her but the old woman just ignored me. I quickly went in front of her and kneeled down to offer my back for her.
"Hop in," I said. But she was so stubborn. "I won't stand here all day until you accept my offer", I added up and she later accepted my kindness to her.
While I carry her in my back, Mrs. Kim speaks to me all of a sudden. "Lalisa, you should eat. No matter how hard life gets; one should still eat. Ever since Jennie was gone, you've been living with a broken heart. And the only thing I could do for you was cook you food." The moment Mrs. Kim said that I felt the pain all over again. Then, I began to cry without her knowing it.
"Why are you talking to me like that?", I asked Mrs. Kim as I stopped myself from crying.
"Lisayah, I'm getting older and older. Do you remember what you said to me? You said that the best thing a parent can do for their child is staying healthy. It's the same with parents. It tears our hearts out when our children are in pain. Lisa, you are my daughter and also my granddaughter. Don't you ever forget that. You should continue living among other people. Life may seem a burden to you at times, but if you choose to be among others. Just like what you did for me. Someone will carry you on their back. So stop locking yourself up in your past", she said that made me sobbing and cried even more.
