We'll Be Fine

Chapter Twenty-One: See You Later

Hope's POV:

Today's the day. I got up and showered before getting dressed. Marcel and Kol are going to come with me just in case. I told them I would be fine but they didn't hear it. I walked downstairs where they were waiting for me. I nodded at them to show I was ready to go. We all raced to the tree line of the school. I stopped right before I crossed over the line. I knew they knew I was here but I didn't care. This was the last time I would ever be here, at least for now. 

Marcel and Kol made sure I was ok enough to go inside to which I almost said no to them but I knew I needed to cut ties with this place that I called home for so many years. All three of us slowly made our way inside. As soon as I stepped inside the doors, all eyes were on me. I just kept my head down and made my way to Alaric's office. It felt like an eternity before I reached the door. I stood outside it for a minute to build the courage to knock.

About five minutes later, I had gotten it and knocked. I heard Caroline say the door was opened and I walked in. Just my luck, Josie, Jed, and Jade were sitting in the office. "How can I help you Hope?" Caroline asked as she sat down in her chair. I cleared my throat which was still raw from yesterday. "I'm here to withdraw from the school." I said and all heads turned to me. I avoided all eyes by just looking at Caroline. She seemed surprised.

"Are you sure Hope? You can stay. We would all like you to stay. I know emotions were high yesterday and no one here blames you." She said, trying to convince me. I shook my head no. "I just need the paper work then I'll go clear my room out and return the key." I said with no emotion what so ever. "You can't be serious Hope. You belong here with the rest of us." Josie said. "No I don't. I'm not like any of you and it's best if I take my leave and go. I'm sorry." I said. The silence fell over the room.

Caroline gave me the paperwork and I filled it out in seconds, handing it back to her. She gave me a sad smile before I walked away. Marcel and Kol stayed a little ways behind me as I went straight to my room. I ignored everyone who tried talking to me. I used my vamp speed to clear my room. I packed all the things that were mine and gave them to the boys while packing what was Lizzie's in a separate bag. Once I was done and made sure I had everything. I headed back to Caroline and told the guys to wait outside.

I didn't bother knocking this time and just walked in. I didn't spare any second glances as I put the key on the desk and handed the bag of Lizzie's stuff to Josie. She looked at me confused. "It's your sister's." I said and she nodded. I gave them all a solem smile before walking out closing the door behind me. I had just made it outside when someone grabbed my arm. It was Josie. She wrapped me into a tight hug which caused me to hug her back.

We stayed like that for a minute before she let me go with tears in her eyes. Jade was next. "I'll call you sometimes and when I'm in town, we can hang out. Just don't tell Lizzie please. She'll find out once I'm gone anyways." I said causing them to nod. I bid them farewell and took off with my uncles back to New Orleans where I would figure out where I was going to go from here.

Lizzie's POV:

I was woken this morning to an intercom message asking all students to report to the dining hall for a school meeting. I was confused but got up none the less and got dressed before heading the meeting. All of the student body was there and everyone looked sad. I wonder what's going on.

I found Josie and sat next to her. She had tear stains on her face and so did Jade. I'm actually concerned now. I was going to ask them what was wrong when my mom came up to the podium. "Good morning, everyone. I brought you all hear with some sad news. We have lost one of our own this morning. Hope Mikaelson has official withdrawn from the school as of an hour is no longer living on campus. She's sad to inform everyone that yesterday was her final day as a Salvatore Stallion." My mom said and my heart stopped in my chest. I stood up causing everyone to look at me. "What do you mean Hope left the school? You just let her leave without telling me? How could you?" I said with my voice breaking. Josie grabbed my hand as everyone looked at me with sad eyes. The tears fell as I left the dining hall. Josie was right behind me.
