Chapter Twenty-Four: Thinking Of You

Hope's POV:

It's been about four days since the party and to say things were different would be an understatement. Mia and I were still together but we hadn't talked about any of what we needed to. Classes started and mine were all in the morning. I managed to get all the work I needed done and the teachers let me leave early. I went to the dining hall and sat down. I was one of many who were waiting for their friends and lunch. I had put my head down and I was almost asleep when I heard my name yelled from the staircase. It was Mia and she was pissed. Oh god, she knows. Someone told her. Fuck.

"Yes?" I said as I stood up. "You fucking cheater!" She yelled before slapping me hard across the face. I could feel myself getting angry. "What are you talking about?!" I yelled back. More students came piling in but that didn't stop us. "You leaving the party early and sneaking off with some girl! I heard a few people talking about it as I passed them by in the hallway! How could you do that to me?!" She processed to yell and shove me back. I took it until I couldn't. "Stop shoving me damn it! How about we talked about you actually cheating on me with some guy at the party in the old mill building?! He doesn't even go here so I'm guessing you invited him, right?!" I yelled now getting in her face. You could feel the tension bouncing between us. Her eyes widen and her mouth hung up. I laughed. "See?! Who was he Mia?! Let me guess, he's the football team quarterback that you tutored last year because he couldn't even spell his name right?" I yelled and she went quiet. "Not fucking come at me like you actually caught me doing anything!" I yelled once again before walking away. 

"Where'd you sleep last night then Hope?! Or should I say who did you sleep with last night?!" She yelled before shoving me from behind. "Really wanna know who?! Are you sure because you might not like the answer I'm going to give you." I said with venom laced in my voice. "Yeah I do so spit it out!" She yelled. I smiled at her and she knew that the answer probably was gonna hurt more than expected. "Remember that 5'4 black-haired, green-eyed cheerleader that had the biggest crush on me? It was her. I invited her after I watched you take it like a champ for the quarterback." I said and laughed. I heard a very people oof at that but I didn't care. I turned to walk away but stopped when I saw Lizzie staring back at me. "You're lying! I can tell you're lying! It was someone here!" She yelled at me. I ignored her but she wasn't having it. She vamp sped in front of me and held my face tightly in her hands, forcing me to look in her eyes. "Who was it Hope?!" She asked me again and I looked back at Lizzie. She turned and followed my line of sight. "It was her?!"She yelled before shoving me and going after her. 

I didn't stop to think. I watched her grab Lizzie by her throat and run her into the dining hall wall. I ran after her and threw her across the room. "Do not you dare touch her!" I bellowed causing the walls to shake. I growled loudly as I could feel myself ready to fight. She dropped her fangs and charged me. We fought back and forth until she pinned me to the wall by my throat. I could feel her nails in my neck causing me to bleed which only fueled my rage. I flipped us, now holding her against the wall. "You ever touch her again I will rip your throat out with my teeth!" I yelled in her face. She was trying to fight against my grip, but she wasn't strong enough. "Stay away from me or you will be dealing with me. No one else." I said causing her to shake. "You can't kill me! You'll die if you do! Remember when you saved me? I died with your blood in my system which now makes me your sire! You can't kill me!" She yelled and I laughed. "You think I care rather I live or die?! Do you know who I am?! I will kill the both of us if you step foot near her and you know I'm serious! Do not start something that you can't win! We're over! You're free to go." I yelled as I let her fall out of my hand. I watched as she looked at me with hate and anger. She never loved me anyway. I was her savior and she felt in debt to me but that's all it ever was. 

As soon as I turned around, all eyes were on me. I saw Josie looking at me with worry. Lizzie looked guilty and Jade just looked anywhere but me. I shook my head and walked away. So much for a fresh start. I went to my room and packed Mia's things. I put them outside the door and I knew she got them because they were gone by the time I headed outside. I walked down to the dock, and I watched the sunset. I missed this every night. I could never find a spot better to watch it then here. I thought I would be alone for a while, but someone sat down next to me. I knew who it was the moment I smelled her perfume. "Are you ok?" She asked and all I did was smile at her sadly. She got the hint and we sat in silence while the sun disappeared, and the moon raised, covering the lake with its glowing light. "I'm sorry she attacked you... I didn't think that that's how it would go but I am sorry for that." I said while looking at the moon. "It's ok. Why did you protect me and attack her tho? She was your girlfriend and I'm me." She asked and I really didn't have an answer. "I guess... when she grabbed you, something inside me snapped. I didn't care that she was my girlfriend. I didn't care that she was upset with me. All I could think about was... protecting you and making sure she would never harm you again... I didn't care that I hurt her... All I could think about was you..." I said and I saw her smile out of the corner of my eye. 

Lizzie's POV: 

To say I was surprised when Hope went toe to toe with her now ex-girlfriend for me would be the understatement of the year. I expected Hope to let her do what she had to and move on but when she grabbed her off of me and threw her across the hall made me see that that wasn't going to happen now. When Hope broke up with her in front of everyone, I couldn't help the smile on my face. Rafeal confronted me earlier to ask if it was true, I told him it was, and he ended things between us. I know he was hurt but I felt free again, I felt alive. Plus the entire time I was with him, I was thinking of her. He would kiss me and I would taste her mouth. I felt nothing for him but he was the distraction I needed at the time. 

Hope and I sat in silence for a while before she stood up and held her hand out for me to take. "We should probably head back inside. I can see your cold so let's go. I'll walk you to your room." She said and I smiled, taking her hand and offer. We walked hand in hand through the vacated hall to my room. I opened the door to my room and I hated myself for it. "Oh my god Josie!" I yelled surprised at what I just saw. Hope peaked in from behind me and whispered, "Damn." I shoved her back and closed the door. I didn't even want to be in there anymore. "So I'm going to assume you'll need a place to sleep tonight seeing as those two don't look anywhere near done." She said with a laugh which caused me to punch her in the boob. "Ah. What was that for?" She asked now holding her boob. "It's not funny. I think I'm scarred for life. That's the fourth time in six months that I've catch them doing that." I said pointing back at the room. "Come on." She said once again offering me her hand to which I took. We made it to her room and walked in. 

"We need to talk." I heard someone say in front of Hope and I instantly felt her growling at whoever it was. "Easy wolf. I need you to break our sire bond so I can leave and never look back. You two deserve each other by the way." Mia said and Hope was shaking. "I'm going to need her help but if you even think about touching her, I will kill the both of us. Understand?" Hope said in all seriousness. I heard Mia swallow hard, and she understood. Hope let me in, and she made sure to keep herself between me and Mia. I had no problems with Mia besides the fact that she's kind of a bitch and she cheated on my favorite ex but whatever. "You remember how to break a sire bond right?" Hope asked me and I nodded. I watched as Hope grabbed Mia's hand, and I started it. The spell only took a few minutes to do, and the bond was broke. Mia left without a word and Hope sat on her bed. I sat next to her, and it was silent. 

"We sure know how to make a mess of everything." She said with a small laugh. "Yeah, we do. We sure do." I said agreeing. "You know... this might be a little weird given everything, but I just wanted to say that when I was with her, all I could think about was you... " Hope said and I felt my heart skip a beat or two. "I get that. While you were gone... me and Rafeal were hooking up but all I could think of was you.... " I said honestly. She nodded and fell back into her bed, staring at the ceiling fan spin. I did the same and it was actually peaceful. I think that's because for the first time in a year, I feel safe again. "How'd you meet Mia?" I asked causing her to look at me. You could see a small smile form. "Wow um... I had a rough couple of days, and I was really worn out. I was suspended for the third time in two months, so I pretty much was free to do anything. I had gone to this party with a few people I had gotten to know, and we had fun. Well, I left early, and I walked back to where I was staying when I heard someone screaming for help so I went to see if I could help... that's when I saw her trapped inside a car that had been run off the road... she was in bad shape, and I knew by the time I got close to getting her to the hospital she wouldn't have survived so I gave her my blood before she died in my arms... I stayed with her until she came to and I brought her with me... we became friends then as time went on... we ended up dating and it was fun for a while but when she decided to come here... I knew it was over... I wasn't in love with her but she was cool and I had fun but there's one thing that she just wasn't..." She said as she looked back at the ceiling. 

"What's the one thing that she just wasn't?" I asked genuinely curious as to why she wasn't more upset about this. I heard her take a deep breath before looking back at me, there was something shining in her eyes. "She wasn't you and that was always the biggest problem... I could never have loved her the way she deserved when I was still in love with you..." She said and that's when it hit me. Maybe it wasn't too late to fix what I broke a year ago. We both got tired after an hour of just talking and catching up. I got on the side I always slept on and she got on hers. We laid there next to each other for a minute before I heard Hope say fuck it and wrap her arm around my waist and pulled me into her. I smiled and kissed the top of her head, allowing myself to just be in this moment with her. No sex, no pain, no forced pointless conversations. Just us and the comfort of being together again. I fell asleep in no time with a smile on my face.
