Chapter 5
Erin POV
I'm looking at the rabbit and the squirrel, trying to figure out what to do with them, maybe I should make a stew or something. I'm in the kitchen when I heard it I heard the garage door opening and closing meaning Daryl's here, I need to thank him for them. I walk toward the garage.
Daryl POV
Knock knock. She is standing there in jeans and a shirt I look away from her, she deserves someone better than me.
"Can I come in?"
"It's your place you can do what you want."
"Yeah it is but this is your space."
"Not really."
"It doesn't matter Daryl. I wanted to ask would you be able to help me?"
"Sure."
"I've never had squirrel before the little buggers are always too fast for me to get. I've never skinned one you think you can help me? I'll make you dinner if you do?"
"You don't have to. I'll skin it for you."
"Oh, so you leave me a squirrel and a rabbit and not expect me to cook you dinner?" She smiled at me.
"No, you said you wanted rabbit so I just brought you what you wanted." I just hoped you liked it I think you did.
"Really is that so? Oh well, I guess you'll just have to miss out on my stew and I was thinking my famous apple pie, everyone loves my pie. When was the last time you had pie?" I bet all the guys have had her pie she's so pretty I bet someone like that Aiden guy is her guy. She deserves a preppy kind of guy, not someone like me some dirty redneck.
"When was the last time I had pie? I don't remember it's been that long." I haven't had pie in so long it's not funny.
"So you want some of my pie?" Does she know she says this? She can't be this innocent.
"Sure I'll stay for dinner."
"Good that's what I wanna hear. I hope you like peas, carrots, and potatoes."
"Yeah, I do." I turned and walked back in the garage I had to otherwise I might do something I don't think she really wants, because why would she really want someone like me she deserves so much better.
Sometime later......
"Daryl dinner is ready."
"Erin, can I ask a question?"
"Sure fire away."
"Why aren't you with some guy like Aiden or Nicholas? I mean they are good looking guys. That always looks clean. You deserve that."
"They don't interest me they never have."
"Oh, you're like your brother."
"Oh am I gay? Oh no I'm not gay I've never been with a man but I like guys. I want the right guy, Nicholas and Aiden aren't they are the type that even in the apocalypse they'd sleep with someone and dump them. I'm not like that I'm a forever girl. God Erin will you shut up. I'm sorry I have word vomit." I had to laugh at that she makes me laugh.
"It's okay. Yeah, I get you. I'm the same."
"I told you I talk too much. I hope I haven't made you uncomfortable. I'm not normally so open. But I trust you, Daryl. Come on foods getting cold."
Yeah, I'm not going there. She's pure she needs protecting I failed Beth I won't fail Erin she's my second chance at saving someone.
