Two months later....

Daryl POV

Today's the day they the soldiers said that they were bringing the shots that are supposed to cure us, so we won't come back when we die. I'm a little scared I mean how do they know it works? Erin thinks they are telling the truth so I will get the shot as well as her if she does and the kids will to. We were told to gather in the middle of town.

"Okay everyone we have enough for everyone so there is no need to rush, everyone will get one. Who wants to be first?"

"I told everyone I will be first then anyone who wants it can be done after me." Said Rick.

I actually still a little scared I guess we will know if it doesn't work or is harmful if something happens to Rick. Don't know what we would do if it did. It's not like we could fight these guys it's the fucking army.

"Babe it'll be fine. I thought nothing scared a Dixon?"

"I'm a little what if you or Bub have a reaction to it? And die?"

"Well I won't come back if that's the case so I'd be okay."

"There you go Rick all done. You feel okay?"

"Yeah feel good. Guess we will never know if it works seeming I have to die for it to work."

"Very true sir. But it does we've tested this on hundreds of people and they didn't come back."

"Everyone it hurts a little but I don't like needles never have. Anyone who wants it can come up when you want it."

"Before we start, we will mark you names off the list to make sure everyone gets their shot."

"Babe I'm going to get mine and Shelley's shot and maybe we should do Merlynn as well you can do yours and Hunter's."

"I'll be right behind you Erin."

"Hello Erin. Can you cross off the Dixon's."

"I have to ask will this harm the baby I'm carrying?"

"Well congratulations. No we don't know if it will carry through to it so we might give it a shot as well when it is born."

"Okay I'm ready as I'll ever be." The nurse takes the needle puts it in Erin's arm, and grabs another and does Shelley she starts crying which causes Hunter to start even before he gets done.

"Daryl you wanna bring him up he's already crying so it can't get any worse."

I take Erin's place and they jab Hunter and he continues crying, then I get done and then little Merlynn and we were done. I really hoped they weren't lying that this was over that they didn't just shot us up to kill us. How easy would it be shot us with a slow working toxin well if they did then at least I'll die with my family so there's that.

"What you thinking about good looking?"

"I was just thinking it would be an easy way to kill us tell us all that there's a cure and pump us full of something to kill us."

"Pessimist much babe?"

"Yeah just thought the worse. But I feel fine."

"Yeah me too, looks like the kids are none the wiser. Come babe lets have a chilled out day. I'm thinking a picnic in our backyard babe."

"Sounds like bliss to me babe."

We got home without fuss and Erin made sandwiches and I put a blanket on the ground, we ate and watched the twins run around and Merlynn crawl.

I watch Erin walk over and change the iPod to a mix of her and my favourite songs. I watch her pick up Merlynn and start dancing, I don't think I've ever seen her so happy. It makes me happy.

"Hey momma bear. Come lay down relax with me."

"Sure daddy bear."

"Why are you so happy? You look radiant."

"Why wouldn't I be babe? We've been given something we didn't think was possible. Peace babe."

"Peace?"

"Yeah I never have to worry about you having to kill me, if I die. I couldn't do that. I know how much having to do that to Merle killed you, I couldn't do that to you."

"Please don't talk about you dying babe."

"It could happen Daryl. I could die having this baby or babies, it happens."

"Please don't leave me baby. I couldn't go on without you."

"You me Daryl we are forever. If something happens to each other I know I'd never be able to replace you Daryl. I don't think you'd either babe. We are each other's half. You're my soul. When I'm with you I'm home cause you are my home."

"I'll love you for the rest of my life Erin."

"Just love me for the rest of mine."

She reached over and kissed me, it was the end to a perfect day.
