It's been straight three nights.

Seonwoo felt like he suddenly developed an over-sensitive hearing because of Riki's small sobs in the middle of the night.

They still haven't talked about what happened on his last mission, but Seonwoo knew it was terrible. Heck, it's giving Riki nightmares.

Even the chairman let Riki off work to gather his thoughts. He's been spacing out too much and would sometimes tear up out of nowhere.

Seonwoo decided to stood up on his bed, walking towards the desk where his spare keys are. He took them in his hands before dashing out his room.

He didn't bother to knock and just entered the boy's own room.

There he found Riki sitting on his bed, he was hugging his knees and Seonwoo was sure he was crying...again.

“Riki,” Seonwoo reaches for the boy's hair, brushing his fingers through his scalp.

It pains him to see Riki being this vulnerable. He was too young to bear with all of these. Murder and death.

It took half an hour for Riki to finally calm down.

Seonwoo stayed on his side, his very existence comforting the younger.

“Are you not afraid?” Riki asked out of a sudden.

It took Seonwoo a while to speak, “Of what?”

“Of staying with me...”

Seonwoo quickly shook his head.

“Why,” Riki asked, voice weak, tired.

“Cause I know you're a good person, Riki. Even though you carry gun all the time,” Seonwoo answered.

“I kill people, Seonwoo, and people around me are getting killed as well.”

Seonwoo could hear the bitterness in Riki's voice, as if he was trying to kick him off his life.

“I care for you. I don't care if you're a murderer or something, I believe you will not do the same to me. And aren't you supposed to keep me safe? Riki, I don't care who you are, I care for you.”

Riki nodded, “How are you sure you're not just pitying me?”

Seonwoo was taken a back by the sudden question. Riki looked up, meeting his gaze.

“You still have work tomorrow,” Riki gently pushes him off his bed, before lying on it facing the other side.

“Riki...”

“Let's sleep before your alarm clock rings, goodnight,” Riki whispers, pulling the covers over to his head.

Seonwoo sighs, “Goodnight.”

He left Riki's room with a heavy heart.

He felt bad for making Riki feel like he's just doing this out of pity.

For years, Seonwoo lived alone in a house. It was only recent when he felt peace coming home to a certain house he shared with a boy named Riki.

Riki is home, and Seonwoo hoped that Riki feels the same.
