Riki had no other choice.
He could not just stop completing missions just to be with Seonwoo 24/7. He could not just turn his back away from a job that kept him this rich. No matter how risky it was, no matter who was in the line.
Riki didn't even bother to wake Seonwoo up before he leaves in the midnight.
He knew Sunghoon would be there any minute and he's avoiding him. Sunghoon was a big brother to him and they grew up together for years. Riki knew he have hurted Sunghoon's pride with his sudden request, but he just couldn't watch their closeness any further.
It's the jealousy beneath him acting, but Riki was not mad at Sunghoon. Nor does he hold grudge. He knew Sunghoon is a good person.
Riki didn't expect to find Sunghoon standing on the terrace when he walked out the door. It was too early for him to be here, anyways.
“Leaving without telling Seonwoo?” Sunghoon speaks without looking at him.
Riki couldn't talk.
It's been almost a week.
“At least give him the assurance you'll be back home, ash or breathing.”
Riki enhaled sharply. The tone he was using was not like his usual. Sure, he was cold and strict from some occasions, but Sunghoon never talk like that.
Riki shook his head, ignoring everything. He walk pass Sunghoon as he fish out his car keys on his pocket.
It was not there.
Sunghoon laughs at him, “Here, use my car.”
Riki catches the car keys thrown into him.
“Hyung,” Riki speaks, “Your brakes are working fine, right?”
Sunghoon continued laughing.
“It's working perfectly fine, Riki. Do you think I'll sabotage you that way? Hell nah, Jake's even sharing the same car as you,” Sunghoon says, shaking his head.
Riki shrugged as he open the white car parked behind his own.
“Riki?”
Riki looked back, seeing Seonwoo standing before the door.
Sunghoon silently made an exit, entering the house.
“Isn't it too early to leave?” Seonwoo asked, his hair messily sticking out to every directions and face still puffy red due to lack of sleep.
“I...uhm,” Riki stutters, what should he say?
“Was there an emergency?” Seonwoo asked again, walking towards him.
Riki could only nod.
“Will you be back before your birthday?” Seonwoo asked again.
Riki blinked. Birthday?
“It'll be a week from now. You'd be here by then, right?”
“Well, that depends on the following missions I'll handle, but I'll try to. If I can cancel scheduled meetings, I will,” Riki said, raising his right hand as a sign of promise.
Seonwoo smiled.
“We'll see each other on December 9th?”
Riki blinked again, staring at Seonwoo's smiling face.
This scene was familiar...eighteen years ago.
“Riki, you'll be late, go on.” Seonwoo snaps his fingers.
Seonwoo gave Riki one tight hug before letting go of him.
“I'll always wait home,” Seonwoo speaks.
You didn't—
Riki only nodded, and before he could enter the car, Sunghoon emerges from inside the house.
“Riki,” Sunghoon called out.
Riki look back at Sunghoon.
“Be here on my day, Jake promised so you should promise as well,” Sunghoon says.
Riki smiled, “I promise, Hyung, I'll drive Jake-hyung to you as a gift. Now, can I leave already?”
Sunghoon laugh, dismissing the boy. Seonwoo could only stand there, watching at how Riki drove the car slowly away from them.
When Riki was far enough, Seonwoo screamed in excitement.
“Now, let's do this!” Seonwoo giggled, running towards Sunghoon.
Sunghoon laughs, catching the boy in his arms before discreetly looking at the camera hidden behind a flower pot.
