Long drives can be fun or boring.
We had passed the singing, eating, sleeping and now we were all just silent. Bored. Tired of I-Spy and seated charades, everyone seemed to be silent with their thoughts.
Nina had blocked herself out with music.
I guessed Green Day from the light hum coming out of her earphones.
I decided to do the same and put on 5SOS and listened to Amnesia.
If you don't know what and who they are.
No words.
And do you live under Patricks rock under the sea?
After what seemed like hours my mom turned around and smiled.
"Girls we are five minutes away now."
What?
I quickly started brushing my hair and checking my face looked a little more fresh in my makeup powder. I wasn't usually one for makeup but I swiped on the ole lipgloss, my lips felt dry.
Nina put her blond locks into a side braid and put some eyeliner on using her iPhone. Girl had makeup skills.
She didn't need it.
She was stunning.
She was skinny, pale, average height with amazing blue eyes. Her blonde hair was slight curly, she hated it as it got frizzy after it got wet.
Her face had a few freckles making her seem more real and beautiful.
I was quite the opposite.
I was tan, with dark long wavy hair and brown eyes. I wasn't skinny, but more curvy, which Nina said she wanted to be, but I don't think she understands that having bigger boobs and a bigger butt wasn't a gift, it was a curse.
When you jog, let's just say you need to have the perfect sports bra.
One thing I was proud of was my teeth. I had braces for 6 months and have the most natural straight teeth known to man, it's like I never had them. I always get compliments for my smile, which is probably why I'm quite smiley.
A white mansion came into view. The summer house.
Sweet potato, it never looked more beautiful.
With the white wash paint, the wooden gate, the rose bushes and the squeaky wooden porch swing, I never could forget this place.
Everyone came here.
It was like the centre of our little town.
My aunt was a well respected lady, she was the head of all charitable events, she held all the famous barbecues and knew everyone.
My aunt was an artist, her house was full of paintings and sculptures and she was always adorned with a paint spattered apron. Her pieces were sold internationally and that's how she landed big bucks.
But, she's the most homey, lively and grounded person you'll meet.
She's my idol.
My aunt inspired me to understand and love art. It is why I do sketches and collages for fun.
