I was on cloud nine.
Everything just seemed great, Troy and I were acting like a couple.

He hadn't quite told me what we were, but I was happy.
I didn't want to make it complicated.
Troy was happy means Shay happy.

I sound like a cavewoman, and not the good kind.

Luke didn't like Troy at all, he thought that Troy overreacted at the funfair and caused me a lot of pain.

He was right in a way, but at the same time I did betray my best friend.

I mean seriously what was wrong with me.

Everything would be perfect if she would answer my damn phone calls.

I've gone horse riding with Luke to catch up, not that I didn't see him a couple of days ago.

I was riding 'Jeans', my white stallion, he grew up with me here. I used to do horse shows in Rhode Island.

That has changed, I don't have time to practise and I like riding for fun not for the satin ribbons.

"So uh hows the whole-" I stop Luke.

"We don't have to talk about that." I say.

Luke is riding a black mare, we are following a forest trail that leads up to a rocky hill, but the view is epic up there.

"Why not? Isn't this what girls talk about?" .Luke laughs.

"I thought you didn't like Troy." I say.

"Well yeah but you do and I guess that matters more." Luke shrugs, he was a good friend, despite the shit that went down with Nina.

"ahh Luke!" I pinch his cheeks. He glares.

"Alright so spill!" Luke says.

"We kissed."

"Wait what?!" Luke yells.

"We uh you know.." this was so awkward.

"How did that happen?" Luke yells again.

"We put our lips together?" I say.

What the hell is wrong with this boy?

"Yes I understand but why?" Luke gasps like a fish.

"Oh I don't know, because I like him!" I yell.

Correction love.

Tsk tsk details.

"Goddamn." Luke says.

Why is he not happy for me?

"Oookay then." I say awkwardly.

"I'm really happy for you Shay." Luke says in an unconvincing strained voice.

"Uh huh."

It was silent.

"So uh how's Nina?" Luke scratches his head.

Not a great topic to choose.

"How do you think?" I say.

"She still mad?" Luke says.

Well yeah!

"We did kiss!" I exclaim.

"Yeah, but we weren't dating!" Luke defends.

"You were going to take her out!" I say shocked.

"She cancelled on me!" Luke yells.

"Because of me." I huff, he still doesn't know about Scar.

"What? How is that because of you?" He says.
"It just is." I whisper.

Luke looks at me and doesn't question me further.
