Chapter 26
Savanna's POV
We got out of the main door, a canopy covering us from the rain puring down. Luke removed his coat and handed it to me.
I gave him a questionably look still not taking it. "We're going to my car, and I'm sure you don't want to be wet."
I took the coat ignoring the fact that the statement he previously said sounded wrong. "But I'd rather get wet." I gave him a grin and gave him back the coat.
He chuckled. "Okay."
"Where is your car?" I asked.
He pointed to the direction we were facing. "There."
There was only three cars left in the parking lot. A one and only black chevy was what he was pointing to.
"Okay." I said.
"Ready?" He asked.
"Let's do this." I said, preparing for a run.
We ran in the rain, off to his car. As we ran, I could barely see Luke in front of me. The rain was kind of blurring my sight.
I wiped every raindrop rolling from my forehead to my eyes.
I laughed as he almost slipped.
I saw Luke going inside his car and I went in the co-pilot seat.
"Wooh!" Luke exclaimed settling in his seat. "That.. was fun." He said out of breath.
"Sure is." I was still laughing so hard. He gave me a glare and put on his seatbelt. I giggled as I regained my composure.
"Put on your seatbelt." He ordered. I studied his face. Was he concerned?
Stop guessing conclusions!
"Why?" I challenged giving him a smirked. He shook his head, amused and the engine roared to life.
He had a smirk plastered on his face as he drove at his previous parking space.
I know that he's up to something.
"What's your adress?" He asked with a serious facade but I know behind that, he had a smirk on.
I gave him my adress as he drove out of the parking lot.
I tried reading his face, discreetly. I didn't want his arrogance back on. He wasn't an open book, that's for sure.
Wow, he actually looked hot with his face wet.
I slapped myself mentally and kept my eyes on the road. The traffic light changed from yellow to red, but Luke still didn't push his foot on brake. He was still on shift 3.
I really haven't drove in my life but my brother explained to me the basics.
I know that you should have common sense and brake the car if the light is red.
"Brake the car!" I screeched as we were five meters away from the car in front of us. He pushed on the brake and because of the force, my body pushed forward but thanks to my reflexes, I got my palms in front of me.
I realized I had my eyes closed. "That's why I told you to buckle your seatbelt." Then I heard a chuckle from Luke.
I opened my eyes and shot daggers at him. "Really? Just to teach me a lesson. You almost got us killed!" I screeched and punched his shoulder.
"Says the girl who didn't buckle her seatbelt." He said in a tone I didn't much like.
I sank in my seat and folded my arms across my chest. Glaring at my front, I tugged the seatbelt and it was stuck. I kept tugging at it and heard Luke laugh.
"C'mere." He said pulling the seatbelt and putting it in place. "There. Better?" He asked. I nodded, not removing my gaze.
"Jerk." I muttered but I'm sure he heard it. He chuckled.
We passed our village's gate and Luke asked,"Where's your house?"
"Just there, at the corner. The two stories high bricked house."
I flinched when I mentioned brick, it reminded me of Sam. I am surprised that I've forgotten all about him when I was with Luke.
The car went to a stop, snapping me out of my thoughts and I realized we were already there.
"Erm.. thanks for the ride. That was so much fun." I said. Luke gave me a smile. I unbuckled my seatbelt and opened the co-pilot's door. I got off the car and felt the cold drizzle drop on my skin.
"It's my pleasure. I hope we could do this sometime again. Check your phone later kay? And save my number." He said.
"See you, jerkpid." I said, proud of the new nickname I gave him.
"Where did that come from?" He asked, playing innocent.
"Just go." I said dismissively. He had an amused expression and I closed the door that was previously open.
"See you, Mrs. Red Velvet Cupcake... No! That's too long--maybe, Mrs. Cupcake. There. Let me try that again." He cleared his throat. "See you, Mrs. Cupcake." He attempted one more time.
I chuckled at his childish behavior. I gave him one last nod, turned on my heels and went inside our house. I quickly ran up to my bedroom and watched as he drove away.
I suddenly heard my bedroom door close. I turned around and saw my brother Shane, his arms folded on his chest.
He had his over-protective brother mode on.
"Oh hi, Shane." I said innocently.
"Who was that guy back there?"
"He's a friend." I stated. His eyes narrowed.
"Who is he to you?" He asked, his eyes narrowing as I gulped.
Does he really have to ask this one?
"Next question please." I said, wanting another question other than that.
He rolled his eyes. "I'm serious here, Savanna."
"Okay, okay." I said. His expression was too serious. It was like I was a prey and he was a predator.
How come he wasn't like that when I was with Sam?
"He's just Luke."
