Picture of Sam to the side
Chapter 25
Savanna's POV
Somebody tapped the microphone, making the crowd look at the stage again.
Déja vu
I sighed as I looked at the stage. It was the guy from awhile ago again.
"Hello again! Let's begin the dance, shall we?" He said cheerfully. He somehow has this british accent which was quite cute. "Hit it!" He exclaimed as he pointed an index finger in the air.
Classic music began to play and I felt the nervous tension spreading all over.
"Savanna," I heard Jasmine say and poke my shoulder. I looked towards her. "I haven't thought about this in a while but, I don't know how to freaking dance." She said nervously. I actually realized that I also didn't know how to dance.
"Don't worry." I assured. "It's on the boy when dancing." What I said was true. It was on the boy, as my father said. He learned that from 'A Scent of a Woman'.
"But, I have no idea where to place my hands!" Her eyes suddenly widened. "That sounded very wrong." I laughed at that.
"I swear, you'll be just fine." I reassured her.
She sighed, "Fine." And disappeared drom the crowd. I realized I was alone. Chloe was nowhere ro be found. I guess I'm on my own.
"Hey." I heard a male's voice from my back. My head snapped to look at him.
"Yes, how may I help you?" I asked politely.
"Don't act dumb. Of course, dance!" He said. Then I recognized his voice. He was the one I didn't want to dance with.
"Luke." I muttered under my breath. "I'm sorry but, no." He gave me a scowl.
"I know you don't like me but, give me a chance." He begged.
"I'm really sorry but, I'm waiting for someone." I said, hoping to not hurt his feelings.
"Okay." He simply said. "But if you're free, let me know. I'm just there." He pointed at a table and I saw him wink behind that mask. I rolled my eyes.
I waited for Sam, hoping he'll recognize me. I texted him, telling him where I was but he hasn't come yet.
I know it's cheating to tell him but, I just did it anyways.
After thirty minutes, I sighed and walked to Luke. There was only two hours left.
"Fine, I will dance with you." I said, folding my arms across my chest.
"Okay," He said again. What's with this guy and okay's?
Is he being like Augustus Waters or something?
I'm sure he'll never be that hot.
"Earth to Savanna!" He snapped. I realized I was staring at him. "Checking me out already?" He smirked and raised an eyebrow.
"Oh, you wish." I said exasperated.
He gave out his hand, ushering for me to dance with him. I took it with my shaking hand, reluctantly and gave him a forced smile.
We were on the dance floor, my hand on his back and the other on his hand as we danced to the rhythm to the music.
"I don't know how to dance." I said honestly.
"Don't worry," He assured, like what I told Jasmine earlier.
"But I didn't have a choice but to dance with you because some guy didn't show up." I reminded him, making him know that I didn't dance with him willingly.
"You know that most girls would like to have a dance with me." He said.
That arrogant bastard.
"I'm not most girls." I fired back. He's somehow different from when I first met him. The way he speaks screams confidence.
"May I have your number?" He asked, changing the subject.
"You may not." I snapped.
"You should stop being cold to me and just get along with me." He said exasperated.
"Okay, fine." I finally said. Suddenly, the classic music turned into slow dance music.
Oh dear.
"Guess we have no choice." He said as he positioned his hands on my waist. I wanted to scream. I placed my hands on his neck.
I felt insecure by his closeness. I need my personal space right now.
He kept looking at my eyes but I didn't return the stare. I didn't know why but I felt like I'm betraying Sam right now. But he left me waiting there. I don't know what to do right now. I am lost.
It's like I'm in between crossroads.
I just looked into his eyes and made our gaze lock.
"You're so beautiful tonight." He stated.
"So in every other day I look ugly?" I joked. He chuckled.
"I didn't say that." He said. "I hate it when a compliment goes wrong."
I shook my head amusingly. What's there not to like about him? I just like someone else. But I don't think that the feeling's mutual. Sam isn't here.
I felt tears prick the corners of my eye and my sight began to blur.
"Whoever that guy is, forget about him first." He said removing one of his hands from my waist and wiping my tears away. He got his hands back on my waist and brought me closer to him. He whispered in my ear. "I can be better than him." I shiverred. He's too close. "May I have your number?" He asked.
He looked at my lips for a few seconds and back to me.
I chuckled. "Okay okay fine." I finally said in defeat. "After the dance."
~~~~~~~~
We sat by the table, deciding to have a chat, make things out.
"Would you love to come out with me? Maybe have some coffee or watch a movie?" He asked, his eyes holding hope.
"I'll think about it." I said giving him a toothy grin.
Luke wasn't really bad. He's actually cute, showing those dimples when he smiled and he never fails to make me smile.
He deserves a chance, but I'm not sure he deserves me.
"Can't stop checking me out, can you?" He gave me a wink.
I blushed and looked at the ground. I hate it when he winks, I actually just found out right now that that was my weakness.
I checked the time at my phone, that was previously at the table.
It was nearing midnight. I really had to go home.
I cussed under my breath. "I have to go home 'cause Shane will absolutely kill me." I said in a hurry, standung up, preparing myself to leave.
I stopped dead in my tracks when I realized I had no idea where my ride is.
"Do you need a ride?" He asked, also standing up.
I looked at him and blinked. I sighed. "Sure." I gave him a smile.
