Chapter 27

Savanna's POV

I did not like this conversation. Shane was being protective, actually too overprotective.

"Stay away from him." He warned through gritted teeth.

"What's the matter with you?" I demanded. "He's just a friend. Period."

That didn't make the situation any better. "There was something he did, that was really bad."

I shook my head. "You don't know what you're saying. He's a really nice guy. He makes me forget about my problems and--"

"He's not that guy." He bitterly said. Okay, the statement I said a while ago was cheesy. "He'll leave you like every girl he dated."

I walked closer to him and narrowed my eyes at him. "I know that you're doing this to protect me." I sighed and unnarrowed my eyes. "Thank you but, I can take care of myself. I may be your little, annoying baby girl to you but, I am way stronger than you think." I gave him a reassuring smile. "If he leaves me, you can beat him up."

His serious face relaxed. "You're such a stubborn girl." He said pinching my nose--which I really hated. I slapped his hand. "But beating him up would be my pleasure and if that's what you want, then there's nothing I could do." He gave me a smile. "I shouldn't be in your way." He sighed. "I just don't want my baby girl to get hurt."

I chuckled and hugged him tightly. "You're the best brother ever!"

He didn't give back the hug. "I'm your only brother."

And he's back.

"Whatever." I muttered.

I checked my phone every once in a while and Luke neither texted nor called me.

I waited, reading Rick Riordan's Mark of Athena. I've read the first series of Percy Jackson last year and I ought to finish all the books.

I already took a bath and changed into my pajamas. I looked like the next thing I would do is sleep.

My phone rang, making me flinch. I inserted the bookmark in among the pages and quickly got my phone. "Hello?" I started when I answered the phone.

"Hey," I heard the familiar voice of Luke, A playful and wild voice that matched his personality.

"What's up?" I asked. "I know that the sky is up but you know..." I decided not to finish my sentwnce.

"Can you meet me tomorrow after school? You'd find me at the parking lot." He asked. I was picturing him scratching his head right now.

"Sure, sounds wonderful." I stated.

"See you then, Mrs. Cupcake."

"See you too, Jerkpid."

He ended the call before I could press the red button. I was smiling the whole time. Even though I knew that there was school tomorrow, I felt excited.

I placed my phone at the table and my back fell to my bed. I'm really looking forward to the rendezvous with Luke tomorrow.

"You guys will meet later?" Chloe's eyes widened. I nodded.

"I hope that.. you know." Jasmine gave me a mischevious smile and waggled her eyebrows.

She obviously had a dirty mind.

"Hell no!" I exclaimed, almost making Chloe drop her burrito. Jasmine laughed.

"But there was something my brother said about him." I said, frowning.

"About what?" Chloe asked curiously. Jasmine narrowed her eyes.

"He said, 'There was something he did, that was really bad.'" I said, trying to imitate his deep voice.

"Sounds interesting." Jasmine stated, her fingers pinching her chin.

"But I'm sure that he's not that guy." I said. "He makes me forget about--"

"Sam, isn't it?" Chloe guessed. I nodded.

"He didn't come." I said. "By the way, Ethan Webster, right?" I changed the topic, trying to sound upbeat.

Chloe blushed and smiled a little. "Y-Yeah, 'bout that, he was my date and..." She bit her lip. "He asked me to be his girlfriend and you know my answer."

She was now as red as a tomato. "My bitch has a freaking boyfriend!" I exclaimed proudly. I was happy for her but I was sad how my love life isn't simple unlike hers.

"So, let's go back to that Colton guy." Chloe said, wiggling her eyes at Jasmine.

Jasmine had a grin; a grin so wide that she could be mistaken for a Cheshire cat.

"I did dance with him. And you know the most romantic thing I ever wanted. Like kissed and--"

I almost choked, surprised. "You guys kissed like literally kissed?" I asked. "What kind of kiss did you guys make? A chaste kiss, a french kiss or--"

"Savanna!" She exclaimed. Chloe smirked at her.

"So, that means that you guys did a french kiss." Chloe confirmed, still not removing that smirk off her face.

I giggled. Then, there was a thud heard like there was someone who sat down by our table.

The boy who was sitting across me right now was the boy who didn't come during the Masquerade Ball.

"Hey guys." He croaked. My heart raced. I didn't know if it was because of my rage or my anxiety.

Nobody greeted him. There was silence. Even though the cafeteria was noisy, it felt like as if it was dead silent.

I stood up. "I have to go, I-I have to take a wazz." I lied. I couldn't stand looking at his face. Not bothering to take my bag, I quickly ran to the girl's washroom.

Chloe's POV

I saw Savanna rushing to the bathroom.

"What's going on with her?" Sam asked.

My nose flared. "I'll tell you what, Sam. Guess who didn't come to the Masquerade Ball." I put my arms into a fist under the table. I had to hold my anger.

He sighed. "I didn't get to attend because--"

"Save your excuses." Jasmine said. "You're too late. Savanna and Luke are already dating."

Sam's POV

Those words fell from Jasmine's mouth like glass falling into the floor. My heart crashed.

You're too late.

"Do you love her?" Chloe asked, giving a small smile.

"Yes. Even if I have to swear my life to it. Yes." I said truthfully, I felt a little hope.

"Then chase her." Chloe said, like it was the most obvious thing in the world. "You'd do anything for the person you truly love." Her smile grew wider. "Savanna would love people who'd do anything for her. Let me give you a tip," Her voice went serious. "She hates cliché because she thinks that those kinds of romantic scenes are so unrealistic and that is total extravaganza to her."

"Thank you so much, Chloe." I said putting my palms together, like praising her as if she was a god. "I know just the thing."

I quickly smiled as an idea formed up in my head and ran away, I had a briliant idea in mind.

I recalled my moments with Savanna. If I shall risk my life for her, then I should risk my life for her.
