"You know, I never thought that mint chip would be a good flavor, Tommy always told me it's like toothpaste, but then I soon discovered he was just gatekeeping it from me!" A voice exclaimed from the other line.
"Pff- typical Tommy," Dianne let out a breathy laugh shaking her head. Her eyes wandered to the dimming sky outside of her bedroom window, the sun rapidly moving out of sight. "I miss you guys, it's been so long. Getting prepared for Uni has taken up all of my time lately, I wish I was still stuck in school with you guys" A sad sigh left her lips.
"Well..." The voice trailed off momentarily. "Tommy's heading over to my place tonight to celebrate the end of his therapy, you could come too and we could all have a sleepover! It'll be like old times!"
"You know Toby," Dianne's frown disappeared quickly and was replaced with a huge smile. "That sounds like a wonderful idea, what time should I be there?"
"Whenever you want! Anytime is cool with me!" Toby exclaimed in excitement. "Alright, I'll be there in a few" Dianne spoke, the happiness in her voice evident. "Great! I'll see you soon!" Toby replied. "Alright, I'll see you!" Dianne exclaimed hanging up the phone.
Getting up from her mattress she walked over to her closet, her eyes searching for a small bag just to pack some necessities like sleepwear and a charger, things that might need for the night. Her eyes finally landed on a small white bag, grabbing it she set it down on her bed. After grabbing some pajama pants, a hoodie, and of course her phone charger and stuffing it into the bag she exited her bedroom.
Her house was quieter than usual tonight, but there wasn't anything unusual about it. Dianne's mother and grandma had left earlier on in the week to travel to go and see family, naturally, Dianne stayed to take care of school matters, so she had the whole house to herself. Of course she missed the two, without her grandma's party behavior and her mom constantly trying to stop her grandma it felt so empty walking into the living room.
Slipping on her shoes she then walked out the door, then locking it behind her. It was a habit now, to lock the door, except every time she locked a door it reminded her of the locks on Wilbur's house, how they had to replace them because "Toby broke into his house".
It had been about a year since she had seen the tall brunette, the last time being when he was being dragged out the door. She vividly remembered the look on his face, his expression full of desperation, like his life was being taken from him. But a lot has happened and changed since then.
A month after he was arrested Tommy, Clay, and Toby had all gone to court for Wilbur's trial, Tommy and Toby insisting that they wanted Dianne to focus on school and have time to cope with everything. Dianne wanted to go to court though, she would have rather had her go than Tommy, but Tommy insisted he did since he was the only witness to the incident. Though Dianne hadn't gone to the trial Toby had texted her updates throughout the whole thing, in the end of course the outcome for Wilbur was guilty.
Soon after Tommy was signed up for therapy by a very distraught Mrs. Simons. After several months Tommy had seemed so much happier, his joy had been restored and he had finally smiled genuinely. Of course the mention of the situation was still hard to talk about at times, but he had finally learned how to cope with things. He and Toby had gotten closer again too, especially with Toby being Tommy's number one support system.
Clay had gotten his own time to mourn, as well as his own therapy sessions. It took a toll on him knowing he had spent years thinking his friend had abandoned him only to find out that his friend's life had been taken instead. It was hard to sit with the truth as well, knowing what George was like behind the scenes was something that Clay blamed himself for, if only he had been there to notice George doing these things to Tommy, he would've stopped him. The rest of the group was shocked and heartbroken at the sudden news as well, but they grew even closer because of it. Clay, Karl, Nick, and Alex had even extended their friendship to Tommy who had been overjoyed to have made so many friends throughout everything.
