Chapter 13

The asshole victim who had tried to kill Charlie was the very same man from Solomon's former Vatican who had tried to smother her and Alastor when they were infants. Brutus deludedly blamed them for the consequences he suffered and believed that if he destroyed them his place at the Vatican would be restored. He escaped the Vatican's prison by stealing the belt of a visiting priest which he then used to strangle the guard. Before fleeing, he had stolen a large number the Vatican's weapons and sacred artifacts.

He sold the artifacts for money which he used to track down the Solomon and with the remaining money, gave himself plastic surgery so that he would like one of the doctors who were recently hired. The real doctor had unfortunately been intercepted on his way to bureau and killed. All he needed to do was get closer to the half human children and eliminate them. He didn't think a half demon and a half angel would be too difficult to overpower and most wouldn't be for a former exorcist. However the fool had forgotten that Alastor wasn't fathered by some random, lower-level demon. He was fathered by one of the great overlords of Hell itself.

And because of that error, Brutus was dead. But that was the only bright side to this situation. Because his attempt on Charlie's life and caused Alastor to expose the most dark and unstable part of his being. The part that Solomon had hoped that would never see the light.

"So you knew that the kid was a natural born cannibal?!"

The scratches that Blitzo had obtained from the attack wasn't as bad as it appeared. He needed stitches and bandages but nothing was beyond repair. Same could be said for the horrible bump Solomon received on his head. Within a few days they had recovered well but that didn't prevent Blitzo from going off on Solomon for withholding certain information in regard to Alastor's paternal background.

"I didn't exactly know he was one." Solomon said to Blitzo. "More like suspected it. Beelzebub had been known to devour human flesh. Gluttony is among the two sins he favors most. The other being wrath which explains why it was anger that served as Alastor's trigger."

"If you knew his father was like then why are we just learning about this now?!"

"Because I thought that he didn't get it. Natural demons need blood for nourishment at an early age. When Alastor was a baby he thrived just fine on milk."

"So you automatically assumed that means he'll never want to eat people?!"

"I assumed that maybe the craving for blood and flesh was among the things he didn't inherit from his...Father."

"Didn't inherit? Solomon look at him! He has literally every demon trait that his father had."

"Not every trait! Beelzebub lacks empathy and any form of morality. Alastor On the other hand has both because despite his demon mind and  his demon body, he also has a human heart and a human soul."

"So?"

"So that means he has the capacity to feel love and remorse, something that heathen who spawned him could never feel."

"That doesn't change the fact that he ate a guy!"

"He can't control it Blitzo! It's almost like a black out for him! Almost like schizophrenics but worse, he's aware of what he's doing but can't stop himself. Unless he is given the right training and taught how to control those cravings. Find a substitute for it."

"Training?! A substitute?! Is that some kind of dam joke?! You honestly think any of that is going to fix him?! He's a monster!"

"Don't you ever call him that!" Solomon demanded. "Now I understand your fear and anger over this but he is not to blame. He didn't ask to be half demon! He didn't ask to have these instincts! And he's still just a child! Imagine how this must be for him! He's a ten year old boy who has to live with the fact that he killed and ate a human being! You think that'll be easy for him?!"
