The vehicle they were traveling in had been cleverly disguised as a garbage truck in order to avoid drawing attention. This was especially needed because the entire museum was swarmed with reporters which would make the job extra difficult.
"Boy look at all them ugly freaks." Angel commented, looking at the crowds through the window of the vehicle window. "There's definitely a bunch of harlequin babies in this area."
"You're one to talk." Vaggie snarked with a grin.
"Hey! This body is flawless!" He said stretching himself out on the seat. "I guarantee you that everyone would want a piece of me if they knew I existed."
"Quite a lot of video cameras these fellows have." Alastor observed. "Wonder what would happen if we were to be taped by one of them?"
"Don't even think about it." Vaggie warned. "You know we're supposed to keep a low profile. That means unseen, unheard, and unvideo-taped."
"I know. I know." He said. "But wouldn't it be nice if we didn't have to be discreet? That there was no need for hiding and covering? There are many days where I wish that I could just be outside."
"You mean outside with her right?" Angel teased.
Alastor's grin didn't falter but he blushed and his eyes glared at the spider demon.
"You took a swallow of Solomon's experimental, psychic formula didn't you?"
"No. You're just easy. Anyone who knows you can tell right away when you're thinking about Charlie."
"I am not thinking about Charlie." Alastor lied. "But since you brought her up, I think that if we finish tonight's job without suffering any damage, we should pay her a little visit."
"Alastor you know visits to her are not allowed." Vaggie said. "And even if we were allowed to go see her, there's no way you'll be able to talk her into coming back. She left us, take the hint."
"Don't act so oppressive, you're just as eager to see to her again as the rest of us."
"I won't deny that I miss her but I won't disrupt her life. She wants to be normal and as her friends we have to respect that. Also from what I've read in her letters, things are going pretty well for her. We shouldn't ruin it."
"How is she anyway?" Angel asked.
"As I said, great. She has a good job, she's living in a nice apartment, she gets weird stares sometimes due to her skin tone but that's the worst of it."
"Has she made any friends?"
"She converses with the customers who come into the diner she works out but that's as far as she's gotten in the social department."
"Seriously? Five years on her own and not one friend? Not even a boyfriend? I'm surprised."
"What do you mean?"
"What are you, blind? She's grown up to be one hell of a looker. I was sure that she would have everyone begging on their knees for her. At least the guys. I tell ya, if she was my type I 'd-"
"You'd what?" Vaggie said with a threatening glare.
"Aww, there's no need to be jealous toots.
"Jealous? Ha! Don't flatter yourself. I just know how your perverted mind works and I wouldn't want any woman, especially Charlie exposed to your lechery."
"Well you don't have anything to worry about. I just said she wasn't my type. She reminds me too much of my sister Molly and I maybe open minded to some freaky stuff but not that incest shit."
