Charlie didn't feel hungry at dinner, she couldn't think of food or drink or anything. In fact she just wanted to go straight to bed. She was just so tired and confused and scared. Some people who had such feelings would sleep to escape and Charlie was among them. She would try not to sleep too much cause she knew it could lead to depression but on a day like this, the quiet and dark peace of mind was all she sought right now.
When she was finally alone in her own room, she changed into her cherry red pajamas and untied her long blond hair from the braid she usually kept it in. Next she pulled the comforter off her bed, turned out the lights, and slowly laid herself down and covered herself up with warm blankets, her eyes looking up toward the ceiling. She began to just let her mind wander as she waited for sleep to come. She thought about her powers and what Solomon had said, she thought about her mother and what reasons she could have had for leaving her, but she most of all she thought about her day with Alastor and Angel, and how wonderful it had been.
For so long she had dreamed of enjoying the outside world with them. With her family. To experience normalcy, real normalcy. When she was much younger, a naive teenage girl, she began to dream of all of them leaving the bureau one day and going out to live in the real world together. To travel to far off places and see new things, then come home to a nice house just full of warmth and happiness.
But as she matured, she realized that a life like that could never happen. At least not with her and them. Their features made what they were too obvious and the outside world would never accept them. She on the other hand could probably do everything she wanted and more by herself, especially if she learned to control her powers. She could probably spend the rest of her life traveling, exploring, meeting new people, and maybe even settling down in her own house with a husband and a family. She wondered if maybe she should consider doing that.
Once she masters control over her powers, maybe she should just go out traveling and find out what fate holds. Find out if she truly could have a normal life.
Her eyes started to droop, her breaths became slow, and her last coherent thought before she fell asleep was, if she was willing to have a normal life at the cost of not being with the ones she loved most.
...
Alastor was out in the woods late at night, walking around and trying to clear his head. He would do this many times when he was stressed, the cool night air and smell of trees could always ease his nerves. Expel his anxiety and grant him a few moments of peace. Sometimes when he would become very stressed, his hands would itch to do something so he'd use his claws to carve images into the bark of the trees.
He was looking at one in particular this evening that he had made during the first year Charlie had left.
"Alastor."At the sound of her voice, Alastor immediately jumped and turned around, using his back to block the carving.
"Charlie! What an interesting surprise to find you out here! Shouldn't you be inside and-"
Though he was cut off when saw her. Saw her standing in the moonlight, a lovely vision on silver and white, her golden hair and sheer white dress fluttering in the night breeze. She was beautiful, mesmerizing, perfect.
"W-w-why..." He stammered. "Why are you wearing that?"
She looked down at herself, ashamed.
"Do you not like how I look? Do I repulse you like this?"
"No!" He responded quickly. "Never! But it's so windy out here. You'll catch a death of cold my dear."
