"Niffty!" Charlie called out while gently shaking her unconscious body. "Niffty wake up! Please wake up! Oh God please don't be dead! Husk I'm gonna kill you if she's dead!"
"How the F* could she be dead?" The cat asked.
"People die from shock and you gave her one hell of a shock."
Eventually Niffty began to come to, which was a huge relief in Charlie's part.
"Oh my goodness, what happened?" She asked as Charlie helped her up.
"You had a dizzy spell and passed out." Charlie lied. "Here, why don't you sit down and I'll make you some tea?"
Charlie guided Niffty over to the sofa and sat her down. The young woman started to calm down, until she spotted Husk sitting just across from her. That's when she remembered everything that happened before she fainted.
"The cat!" She screamed, keeping her distance from Husk. "The cat talked! It talked to me!"
"Don't be silly Niffty." Charlie chuckled. "Cats can't talk."
"That one did! I know it did!"
"Niffty you've been under so much stress lately, you're imagining things. I mean really, a talking cat, what kind of sense does that make?"
"I'm not crazy."
"I never said you were. You're not. You're just very stressed. Stressed about work and the bills. I imagine all sorts of things when I get stressed. Maybe you need to take a few days to relax and blow off some steam?"
But Niffty couldn't stop staring at Husk. Not even when she sipped the tea that Charlie made for her. She just sat there, eyes completely glued on the feline.
"He didn't talk Niffty." Charlie said. "He's just a regular cat, who I think should leave now."
Charlie then picked up Husk and went outside into the alley. Once she was sure that they were alone and that no one could hear them, she started to scold him again.
"You are so lucky that you have supernatural powers, because if you didn't I would have you neutered for this!"
"Hey! What did I do?" Husk asked.
"What did you do?! You talked in front of my boss! I could lose my job or worse for what you've just done!"
"Well maybe if you didn't spend so much time outside the bureau and around humans-"
"Oh don't you dare turn this around on me." Charlie argued. "This is your fault and you know it! If you had just kept your mouth shut and would stay out of my life-"
"Okay I'm sorry about almost blowing your cover but you can't blame me for the whole spying thing! Solomon ordered me to do it and you know I can't disobey him! He's basically my parole officer!"
Charlie huffed in frustration.
"Why is it that no matter how hard I try to fit in and be normal, something supernatural always pops up? Why can't I just be left alone to live a normal life?"
"Here's a thought, maybe because you're not normal."
"But I want to be normal!"
"And I want a body like Igor Rostorotsky and to open my own casino in Costa Rica, but we don't always get what we want. You think I wanted to spend thirty years on parole?"
"Well did you something wrong to get out on a parole. I did nothing to deserve this. I didn't ask to be Lucifer's daughter or to only be half human. But somehow I'm punished for it."
