You and me

Jimin met Taehyung for the first time outside an art elective,he did know Taehyung before that but when Jimin was send out by his teacher for dozzing off in class and Taehyung was there,send out only few minutes ago for being on his phone.Taehyung had gave up his spot and moved to the left so that Jimin can stand and in few more minutes,he offered a gum which Jimin reluctantly took.Soon they were competing who could blow the biggest bubble,from then whenever they met across the school grounds both of them had smiles reserved for each other.Taehyung would joke about Jimin owing him a gum everytime they met and Jimin would promise him,turning his pockets out showing he had none then.

Their friendship started running deep when one day Taehyung was partnered up with Jimin for a project and Taehyung had smeared paints of all colors onto a whiny Jimin but later he helped Jimin clean up,rubbing off all smudges himself.Maybe Jimin would mark this as the first time his heart sped up.Jimin's eyes went to Taehyung's seat everytime he entered art class that he was eager for all week.Taehyung got into trouble on purpose one time by sending paper planes to Jimin's seat which inturn got both of them send out.But this time Taehyung held Jimin's wrist and sneaked them out to the abandoned backyard of the school.It was raining heavily,grey clouds crowded the sky and thick drops fell over them.Jimin watched Taehyung's eyes on the sky,smiling widely as it poured over him.Jimin didn't believe until then that time could turn in slow motion in real life.It was then when Taehyung grabbed his hand as he danced in the rain,Jimin first knew that it was love.He was in love with strawberry scented chewing gums,in love with box smiles,in love with abstract paintings and in love with hours of Taehyung explaining colors splashing over canvas,he was in love with Taehyung.

But the school wasn't the whole world,it ended and they lived at opposite ends of the world.But Jimin took detours and Taehyung met him in the middle.Life got busy and Taehyung never mentioned gums again but Jimin always kept a single strip of gum in his pocket saved for the day he'd confess.Years passed and Taehyung struggled to get a job while Jimin struggled in his job.But one thing never changed,Jimin was still in love.He lost count how many years.

"Come,live with me",Jimin said as Taehyung told him he was threatened to get evicted.Taehyung turned at Jimin enough minutes to make Jimin squirm.So he babbled,"it's not much but I'll let you sleep on the bed and take the couch.You can stay until you get a job or... as long as you want"
And Taehyung stopped him by putting his hand over Jimin's and smiled,"Thankyou Jiminah"
Jimin still felt like a highschooler,felt exactly how he felt back when he stood under the rain.

Contrary to Jimin's suggestions, Taehyung didn't let him sleep on the couch and pulled him into the bed with him.They had slept in the same bed before but knowing Taehyung will be by him every night elicited a warm feeling Jimin wouldn't openly admit.Taehyung's weight on Jimin's leg became a constant and Jimin fooled himself that they were lovers sometimes.

One day Taehyung came through the door shouting that he got a job and Jimin practically jumped off the couch into Taehyung's arms.They laughed and screamed and Jimin was sure the people next doors will lodge a complaint.But he doesn't care.They celebrated it with wine and chicken in the balcony.Taehyung told him precisely three times how he felt when he read the mail of his offer letter.Jimin listened to it all times with the same shine in his eyes.
"Will you be moving out?",Jimin asked,he wasn't sure if his voice sounded fragile or just sad.Taehyung doesn't seem to pick it up though.
"Oh..yeah,I need to look for an apartment.Is it okay if I could stay one more month till I get my first paycheck?", Taehyung tilted his head and Jimin had to turn his head away to hide his burning eyes.He was sure if he kept looking at Taehyung,tears will fall.Jimin hummed weakly.His heart fell at the thought that he will always be just a friend to Taehyung.Taehyung will never love him the way he loves his bestfriend.His hands lazily slid over the gum in his pocket and he slipped it out.It doesn't serve any purpose now.

Jimin unwrapped the gum strip and popped into his mouth.He mindlessly chewed on it as Taehyung kept talking.
"Is that gum?", Taehyung's voice brought Jimin back to the earth.Jimin returned a smile and he was sure he looked pathetic while nodding.He blew out a bubble and it popped over his lips,sticking onto them.Taehyung reached over and his fingers brushed over his lips and Jimin opened his lips to slip the gum back in leaving Taehyung's hand in mid-air.
"You owed me a gum",Said Taehyung,bringing his hand to his side.
"I don't have anymore",Jimin said,sliding his hand into his pocket just to be sure.He knew there was no more but the act made him feel distracted.
"Thats okay", Taehyung said as he brought his hand to cup Jimin's nape and pulled him closer alarming Jimin.Taehyung's nose pressed onto Jimin's and Jimin blinked .Before any of his senses were grounded, Taehyung was leaning in and capturing his mouth.Taehyung kissed like he had been waiting for years,like he had been a life without meaning so far,like this was important than breathing.Taehyung slipped his tongue into Jimin's mouth and Jimin was feeling hot,warm and he wanted to give away but then Taehyung was pulling away.When Taehyung stuck out his tongue,Jimin found his mouth devoid of the gum.

"I'll just have your's", Taehyung finished.
Jimin was breathing too fast and Taehyung gave him a sky smile.
"On second thoughts,I'll take upon your second offer", Taehyung mumbled closer.
"Wh..what?"
"You told me I can stay forever if i want..I'll just do that", Taehyung shrugged and pulled Jimin closer.
"Tae...how..What-"
"It was kinda unfortunate I had to know it from your brother but in his defence,he told me you'd never take the first step but since am already hopelessly in love...i dont mind taking the first step..I love you", Taehyung said,as he pecked one time on Jimin's lips.
"Taehyung!! You can't just say that!!"
"Am in love with you,Jiminah...For God knows how long", Taehyung said as he pressed another peck.
"I love you too,Taetae...Oh god",Jimin threw his arms around Taehyung and he held closer.

"But why didn't you tell me too,you are as guilty as me"
"Babe,I was just waiting to land a job", Taehyung said,earning a light slap on his back from Jimin but Jimin couldn't deny the way his stomach jolted and heart raced at the endearing nickname.He drew back and pouted, Taehyung pecked him again.
"Now give me my gum back",Jimin pressed himself closer to Taehyung,slotting his lips into Taehyung's.Taehyung's hands firm on Jimin's waist and Jimin's around Taehyung's neck pulling until they were impossibly close.And they kept kissing long for they didn't even care whose mouth the gum even was in.
