Nothing matters

Earth had seized to exist several months ago or was it just days, Taehyung couldn't quiet say.But he had indeed mourned the loss of his loved ones even before they had set out for the mission.Even before having to watch the earth just break and disappear into the large void. Now they were far,far as much as 2 weeks can get them but Taehyung looked out of the window to where his home had been.

"Are we feeling quiet melancholic again?", Jimin said as he floated towards Taehyung,who had his head pressed against the hard glass.
"How far until we get to the new home, Jimin?That is if there is-", Taehyung sighed,his eyes denying to look away.

Taehyung still remembers the god awful meeting with a thousand representatives of a thousand teams and everyone only had to say one thing,"it is coming to an end" and then everything was fast forwarded,people did sacrifices,gave away for the greater good,survival of humanity and now taehyung and the few experts of different fields he met at the training were floating on a metal tin in space,quite a long way from a new home ,a new home if it does exist.

Jimin was one of them, chosen to survive with him and Taehyung's mother had hugged him tight and sighed a relief that he would have atleast Jimin.Taehyung had known him since his internship days in the space hub for his bachelor's.Jimin was a friend,since then and now.

"I am trying to imagine this is all a dream", Taehyung leant against the window,just enough to turn at Jimin.
"It is not", Jimin pushed forward to run his hand through Taehyung's unruly long hair.

"You need a haircut",he said mindlessly,twisting the ends between his fingers.

"I would not want Namjoon sunbae complaining about tiny hair going into his eyes", Taehyung smiled at him.
"Alright,maybe simpler things.What else are you thinking about?", Jimin's hand fell from Taehyung's hair to his nape,his thumb pressing on the younger's chin.

"that nothing seems to matter"
"why would it not?"
"all 9 of us lost everything we love,everyone we love..people who guided us are gone,people who waved us goodbyes are gone..we are headed to a planet we are not sure if it would support life..we have lost everything,nothing matters now"
"I think these would be the perfect reasons why everything would indeed matter,sweetheart", Jimin's thumb again traced Taehyung's chin and his heart skipped a beat...maybe more than just one ,but Jimin is just a friend,a colleague,a close acquaintence.So he cleared his throat and spoke,"how-"

"That people gave their life away.Years of hardwork and love away so we could survive.So we could keep the humanity alive...and so everything does matter, Taehyungah"

"I do not know-"
"Well,do not think am being positively toxic.but I think at this point,we are deemed as hope of the humanity in itself"
Taehyung nodded and sighed as he turned completely away,"this new world..do you think we can start a new life there?"
"mm... I wish I had a perfect answer to that but I could tell you that it is in the most human nature to built home even in the middle of a land with no hope.So we will make survive"

"I do not question it at all when it is about humanity but I.. I do not think that I could live like that.. I could not live with nothing that makes my heart beat"
"Taehyungah", Jimin laughed,his hand slipping off Taehyung's neck to his chest.Taehyung tilted his head in confusion as his eyes scanned a tired Jungkook passing them,without acknowledgement.Jimin straightened up and chuckled,"Taehyungah...you are only growing more pessimistic and we are barely away from earth.There's still a long way to go.Do not give up yet,do not until we step out to the damp soil of RSK-07.Do not lose hope yet and even if you do,I'll wish for us both together "
When Jimin hugged Taehyung,he patted a hand over his back lightly.He withdrew and said,"you need to eat today"

But then Taehyung reached forward and stopped him,earning a confused glance,"Jiminah-"

Jimin waited.

"Do you like me?",the question hung ,silence clouding the space between them except for Soya's loud sigh from her chamber.She must be again on that damn book Namjoon had lent her.
