the moment the sky shatters
the line between land and sea blurs
and the gulls still in their orbits
among the dunes
the sand crabs stop their tunneling
and watch the magnificent orb
of light
burst into a thousand star dust showers
and fall to the earth, newly inherited
by the dolphins and sea glass
tucked away inside the sand, dusted
by salt and what feels like home.
