The Unexpected Poem (Some Optimism for Once in my life)

Hope-
A small, clear crystal
Dangling in the center of a wind chime
Blowing lazily in the breezy sea air-
If I try to pull it off of its hook the chimes will sound
And their singing will alert those who want to silence me
But the music changes key when I begin to sing along
And I grasp the crystal in my hands
It makes my voice as clear as the light shining through it
Hope-
Not an absence of pain,
But the unwillingness to let it drown you-
The determination to sing
