Don't hyperventilate. Don't hyperventilate. Don't hyperventilate.

THEY HAVE A PUPPY!

Well, he's not technically a puppy. He's a fully grown Doberman Pinscher. He's black and shiny and majestic. And scary. They won't let me near him because apparently he's 'aggressive' and doesn't do well with strangers.

His name is Bullet.

Are you fucking kidding me, bro?

"Why couldn't you name him something like Princess Andromeda?" I ask Zane.
"Bonus points if you get the reference"
When I take a step towards him, he growls scarily in my face. I back away.

"Don't be stupid and leave him alone" Zane easily walks over to him without any hesitation and puts a black collar on him while scratching his ear. I'm so freaking jealous it's ridiculous.

"I wanna pet him"
"You'll lose a hand"
"Aww, don't say that. He looks friendly enough. I think"

Just when I say that, Bullet growls at me once more before Zane firmly holds his head and puts a muzzle on. He looks scarier like this.

I expectingly blink my eyes at him.
"Can I pet him now?"
"Astraea, he's not a fucking Poodle" He pats Bullet's back one more time before standing up.
"All dogs love pets"
"Shut the fuck up"

"Everyone, carry a Glock with you. It'll come in handy" Zane throws a pistol at Royce, who easily catches it. Then, he looks at me.

"And you, stay in my room. Don't go out. Don't even dare to peek. Stay there until told otherwise, am I understood?"

I nod, unsure. Bianca looks at me from top to bottom.
"What?"
"Zane, we should give her something just in case" She doesn't look away from me as she talks. He thinks it through for a moment, then shakes his head.
"That's too dangerous"

"She needs some kind of self-defence" She crosses her arms over her chest. He sighs.
"There's a revolver in the first drawer of my bedside table. Use it if necessary, but don't you dare take it out for no reason" His eyes are hard on my face. I nod obediently.

"Don't touch him" He motions towards the very angry dog in the corner, who seems to be asleep now. I nod.
"Good. Bianca, follow" They walk out, leaving me alone in the massive hall. I sigh.

"Alright, then" I look around, and finally decide to go upstairs to his room.

Before I can do that, a little growl startles me, making me jump. I whip my head towards Bullet. He glares at me as if I stole his favourite toy. Do they even give him toys?

"Hi, Bullet" I awkwardly give him a little wave. He doesn't seem to understand that it's a form of affection, though. He still keeps growling at me.

"Oh! I know what can make you happy!" I run downstairs to the main kitchen.

I open all the cabinets, but in vain. There's literally fucking nothing-
Found it.

The dog treats are heavier than I thought. They weigh my hand down, but I get on my tippy toes and somehow manage to get it. I run back to Bullet once I get the treats.

They're low quality.

I could treat him way better, honestly.

When I reach, he seems to be sleeping again. I try to take a step towards him, but he instantly snaps his eyes open and stands up, barking.

"Calm down, Let. I'm not going to hurt you" I carefully step towards him, taking out one of the treats from the bag. If Zane could see me right now, I'd be dead.

"It's okay. It's alright. Look, I got you something" I dangle the treat in front of him once I finally manage to reach a few feet from him. He snarls at me once more, but then his attention is grabbed by the treat, and he tilts his head almost adorably.

He takes a cautious step towards me, his head tilted. I think I can hear a little sound coming from him. The sound of fucking appreciation because no one in this household takes care of this big baby.

His muzzle almost touches my hand. I carefully lower the treat, maintaining a safe distance in case he decides that my hand tastes better.

He smells it for a few seconds, but then his tongue flops out and takes the treat from my hand. I have a hard time controlling the scream in my throat.

"Good boy!" I cheer him on as he takes another treat from my hand, finally not growling like a mad man. Mad dog. Whatever.

I slowly lower myself onto the ground, letting him sniff my hair, then my mouth, the my legs, all while I almost have a heart attack.

"Hey..." I raise a hand and cautiously scratch his ear. It so soft. He looks so tough but melts when he gets ear scratches. Kinda like Zane. Except he doesn't really like ear scratches. I don't know. I haven't tried scratching his ear but something tells me he wouldn't appreciate me doing that.

Bullet slowly sits down, resting his head on my lap. I feel like a goddess because he chose me. I'm pretty sure I'm teary. That's stupid.

"You're a good boy, aren't you?" A content sounds leaves his throat as he rubs himself against me.
"So pretty" I keep patting his back.

"Yeah. I'm there right now. What did you say you wanted? I-" I hear Felix's voice from behind me. He pauses when he sees me.

"What the fuck" I crane my head towards him, the weight of the large dog crushing me. I don't mind. I don't mind at all. "Are you fucking stupid? What are you do-" Bullet licks the bottom of my chin. I give him a few head pats. Meanwhile, Felix seems to be having a panic attack.

"Is- Is he-"
"Weren't you sent here to do something?" I raise a brow. He nods.
"Yeah. I- Yeah. I should do what I'm here for"

He runs up the stairs, leaving us alone.

"Do you think they're in trouble?" I ask Bullet, who gives my hand a lick. I sigh.
"I really don't want any of them getting hurt" Felix runs down the stairs as I say that. Before leaving, he turns to be once more.

"Is everything okay there?" I ask him, stroking Bullet's head. He shrugs.
"They have me"
"Seriously, Felix. Everyone's okay?"
He rolls his eyes and sighs.
"Everyone's okay, Astraea. We got this" He winks and sets off.

The fear in my chest encases my heart, making my palms sweaty. Please, let that be true. I'm so fucking worried it makes me sick. Bullet looks worried, too.

"Do I want to check in on them?" I say to myself. No, that's stupid. But this anxious concern won't stop until I make sure everyone's fine. Then again, everything could be going fine, and it would be because of me that they get hurt.

"But how am I supposed to rest knowing they're on a dangerous job?" I look down at the pupper on my lap and chew on my lip.

"Maybe if I just maintain safe distance, I'll be fine" I mutter.

A/N

Please do NOT try this with a real dog. Do not touch someone's dog without permission. Do not say something stupid like "But no dog is aggressive". Astraea is stupid. We all know that. And this is fiction so KINDLY do not do this.

Anyway, be sure to vote, comment and tell me what you think!
