. . .
"You're not gonna miss my wedding, right?"
I nodded at my friend, Zian, who called me through video call to make sure that I won't miss his wedding next week.
"Of course I won't." he's one of my bestfriends, I would never want to miss his important day.
"Kailan flight mo pauwi dito?" he asked.
"Next week, two days before your wedding. May tatapusin lang akong photoshoot." I told him.
Sumimangot naman siya, "Eh two days before pa naman pala! Bakit mo tinanggihan 'yung offer ko na mag best man ka? O kahit abay 'man lang."
"Joseph already said yes." tukoy ko sa isa pa naming kaibigan. Akala ko kasi noon ay hindi ako makakaabot dahil sa schedule ko kaya tinanggihan ko. Luckily, naayos ko ang sched ko kaya siguradong makakapunta ako.
"Oo nga, pero kayong dalawa nga kasi sana." reklamo niya pa.
I chuckled and shook my head. "P'wede ba na dalawa?"
"Oo, ako batas. Sayang, 'di ka tuloy nai-partner kay ano."
"Sinong ano?" my brows creased.
"Kay Eli mo, malamang. Sino pa ba? E'di partner sana kayo."
I sighed and leaned on my chair. "Bridesmaid siya, 'di ba?"
"Oo, pero mag-isa yata maglalakad 'yung gano'n? 'Di ko sure."
"How is she?" I asked. I haven't seen her for 7 years. It's been so long. Nakikibalita nalang talaga ako 'kila Zian.
We never saw each other again after we graduated college. So when I saw her at my friends' wedding, I thought that maybe, that was my chance to finally talk to her.
Maybe we can start all over again?
I admit, I still love her. No one could ever replace her in my heart. I tried dating other girls back then, but at the end of the day, I'd look up at the night sky and remember how much I love her and how I promised her that she's the only one I'll ever love.
How can I forget her?
Everytime I look at the moon, I remember how I loved her there and back.
Everytime I see the stars shine, I remember how her eyes once shone everytime she looked at me. And how her smile was so genuine when she's around me.
I would do anything to have her back. But maybe, she just wasn't meant for me.
"I still feel like I'm incomplete. I'm probably talking nonsense but, well, that's how I feel. Some people may think that I have everything and even if I do, I still don't feel contented. It just feels empty." I smiled faintly. How can I be happy, Eli? Eversince you decided to end us, I forgot what happiness was all about.
