Summary: After a difficult day of school Roman finds his old teacher - the teacher that partnered him and Virgil together for the school project. And the teacher is knowledgable and excitable about Roman and Virgil's marriage.

Even though there were no drama extracurriculars on Monday Roman had to stay late in order to mark worksheets. When he finally finished marking the worksheets he walked down the quiet and dark corridors, humming to himself until he was disturbed by a familiar, but older, voice.

"Mr Slugger! There you are!" Running behind him was none other than Mr Watson, obviously older as he was in his late twenties when Roman and Virgil were high schoolers. Now he was in his late forties and definitely seemed to show it. "How are you? I didn't see you at lunch so assumed you had a sick day."

"I'm fine..." He said quickly, trying to recall his English teacher's first name as that was what normal teacher co-workers did. He really was unsure how to go about this interaction.

Mr Watson tilted his head just like he did when a student said something kind of stupid, but then smiled wide. "You seem nervous buddy, is Nathan alright? Or Virgil? Oh – are you having another baby? If you say yes I will completely and utterly explode right here right now!" Mr Watson was jumping up and down and dragging Roman into his classroom, geeking out about how cute Nathan looked as a baby and how happy Roman was as a new father and how he'd love to see his two ex-students that happy and in love again – although they were still as in love according to him.

"No, no we're not." Mr Watson was the type even as a teacher to get carried away with different ideas. It was new that Roman was calming him down though, and it was new that Mr Watson was talking openly about Roman and Virgil being in love. "I just had a big weekend. I'm quite tired and honestly a little delirious."

The teacher still didn't seem any calmer. "Oh! Was it a special day last weekend? What did you do, tell your Uncle Patton! Or do I not want to know..." Yep, Patton was Mr Watson's first name. Roman had now been pushed onto one of the front student chairs as Patton sat at his usual teacher's desk. This seemed just like the last high school class he remembered attending.

Roman still couldn't trust Patton with what was actually happening though. Well, maybe he partially could. "Actually... You remember that 'perspectives' school project Virgil and I did in sophomore year?" Patton's face lit up even more at that.

"Oh my God! That's when you fell in love isn't it? It was so cute!" Patton blabbered on again. He talked about everything from the marks they ended up getting for their group project to the next class Patton taught where Roman was secretly containing his adoration for Virgil and flirting with his covertly in ways his friends wouldn't suspect. 'It was so cute' – according to the slightly insane high school English teacher.

"Well, well," Roman had to interrupt Patton's rambles again. "Yeah, we remembered about that and just spent the day together. Just talking about our past before we met each other. It was nice." Patton was silent but smiled wide, swinging his legs back and forth. "I guess you don't really get to do that often as a young parent..."

Patton smiled softly again, small tears coming to his eyes remembering. "You really were a different person after that sleepover." He said gently, smiling to himself. "You told me about your sexuality and you just seemed a lot happier when it was just you and Virgil."

Roman's cheeks began heating up slightly at just the thought of him being happy on school grounds. He still couldn't imagine being happy with anyone other than Logan – but he supposedly managed it after meeting Virgil. Straight after meeting Virgil. He must have actually started to fall in love with Virgil during this whole time travelling incident...

"I'm home!" Roman shouted as soon as he reached his front door, seeing Nathan drawing with crayons that seemed to get all over the carpet. As soon as Roman came into view Nathan ran over to him and leapt on him, his legs wrapping around Roman's waist as he grabbed on in a hug, shouting about his day at kindergarten and how much he missed his daddy. It was nice for Roman to distract himself with just being a Dad for a moment. "I'm guessing you skipped nap time today right bud?"

"I'm being an artist like Daddy!" Nathan shouted, wriggling down when the pair got to the living room so his father could see dozens of pieces of paper covered in felt-tip, crayons, stickers, and glitter. "Dad says it's really pretty and I'm the next Mozart!"

"Mozart?" Roman tried to hold his laugh as he examined his son's artwork, wondering if it was either he or Virgil who mistook the wrong artist.

"Yeah! He said Mozart was a famous artist who cut his ear off!" That wasn't right – but he wasn't going to correct his kid before correcting the adult first. Nathan didn't seem to care to question his father's confusion and continued drawing and spraying colours all over the living room that really needed a vacuum.

Roman assumed Virgil was working in the basement art room by the music playing, so he made his way down the brick stairs to see Virgil sat on the desk, focusing on drawing a picture of an infant due to a request he got and would be paid for. "Hey Jack Smellington." Roman said quietly, looking at all the art surrounding him – some of strangers and others of himself, Virgil and Nathan.

"Hey..." Virgil responded quietly, his hand still as he drew. Roman eventually got close to him and he could see him. And this time it seemed different. Maybe it was the lighting or something but Roman could see Virgil's sharp cheekbones, and growing stubble across his chin, his eyes seemed focused but they weren't dark – they were glistening and beautiful. "What are you looking at?" He said quietly again, a slight smirk tugging on his face making Roman's heart unusually explode. Not only was Virgil objectively beautiful but that beauty was now acting on Roman.

"Do you know who Mozart is?" He managed to choke out, trying to hold his laugh again but failing. When his giggle was let go a little Virgil finally raised his head.

"Yeah? He's a Dutch painter from the late 1800s who did paintings like The Starry Night and Sunflowers." Virgil explained as if he was writing an essay for an art class with lots of dates and names. "He cut his ear off too – have you not heard of him or something?"

Roman was still trying to hold his laugh as Virgil explained, getting his phone and googling the pieces of artwork and the facts Virgil was talking about. All results indicated that Mozart was in fact a musician, something Virgil refused was the case, and that the painter of those artworks was Vincent Van Gogh. Roman showed every result much to Virgil's fake annoyance.

Virgil and Roman were laughing together after a few minutes, Virgil playfully slapped Roman's arm and stuck his tongue out. "Shut up! You know I hate you." He laughed, and Roman had to resist allowing his cheeks to heat up again. "You're too big-headed after being a teacher the whole day. Go make sure Nathan doesn't die and let me finish work. I'll cook duck wraps in an hour."
