Summary: It's a normal night and morning for Janus and Remus, chatting about Remus' kinkiness, his amazing first date, and Janus' newly discovered magic skill.

Janus is Japanese-American in this book, don't know if I mentioned that before :)

Also there is not enough platonic Demus fanart so if anyone's an artist... There's a gap to fill!

"JAAAAAAAN!" Remus let the door slam as he entered his home; knowing his roommate, the intelligent and calm Janus Sasayaki, would be wide awake at this late time at night. He was correct – Janus was sat in the kitchen half asleep, writing some posh-lawyer-work-stuff that Remus was not qualified nor had enough brain cells to understand. "Guess where I've just beeeen."

"The strip club?" Janus asked unphased, sipping a nearby cup of tea and typing.

Remus couldn't get rid of his smile though. He had just been on the most romantic afternoon and evening with his adolescent crush, getting coffee and walking around the park, then going to a free museum for a couple of hours and heading back to the university in time for Logan to collect his car. "No! I went on a date with Logan Rubik, it was literally a dream come true can I tell you about it?"

Even though Janus really needed to formulate his evidence for the debate in the courts later in the week, he realised how much he needed a break when he saw Remus' smile. He was proud to see that smile on his best friend. "Well, you've come back for the night, so I suppose not all your dreams were answered."

Surprisingly Remus didn't agree with that statement, he instead scowled and rolled his eyes as if he wasn't the horniest man in the universe. "We decided to take it slow, and I want to savour every moment with him because... Because I actually feel in love Jan!" Janus playfully gagged but let his friend carry on. "He's kinder than I thought he would be, even though I didn't think there was a mean bone in his body. He's so cute!"

"I'm surprised he actually accepted a date with you mate, you are absolutely psychotic." The pair were brought to silence for a moment as Janus typed and Remus agreed he wasn't mentally stable, he stared out the nearby window at nothing in particular. And Janus thought that was the end of the conversation until he heard what Remus said next.

"Yeah, he told me that Roman and Virgil needed your help time-travelling to tenth grade of something."

He said the sentence so normally while Janus had to catch his tea in his mouth to stop him spitting it all over his laptop. No-one was meant to know about that! Definitely not Remus, because even though many people believed Janus to be this mysterious untouchable force Remus could always see right through him.

"You never told me you were magic." Remus had a mischievous smirk on his face as he cleaned his roommate's used tea cup (he may be on his third cup by now), and Janus felt like a criminal being interrogated. Remus knew what was up.

But Janus tried to keep the secret as long as possible so stayed silent. Sometimes Remus knew to let his interrogation go but this time seemed to be not that time. "When did you find out you were Doctor Who?"

"Fine, I lied to them." Janus scowled, his voice in a whisper though. Remus didn't judge, he wasn't a judgemental person, but his eyebrows showed confusion. "I just wanted to see you happy and shut you up about how horny you get for Logan – so when their vibe was off and they told me what happened, I realised how I could exploit it." Janus covered his eyes with his hands, sighing and grumbling to himself. He knew he had a past full of lies and deceit for self-gain – and sometimes he went back to his old ways. Luckily Remus was always there.

The gym rat sat opposite his close friend with a cup of coffee, giving Janus a fourth tea. How Remus could have a cup of coffee at 3am and sleep well was astonishing. But Remus was also quiet, which was rare for him – but he knew when to be calm and non-judgemental. That was how they were such good friends. "What are you going to do now then?"

"I guess I have to come clean." Janus said plainly, sipping his tea and formulating how he'd explain his blunder. He knew older Virgil and Roman understood Janus' bad compulsions but teenage Roman and Virgil could be an entirely different story. Janus knew he was overly emotional with anger as a sophomore teen anyway.

Remus reached across the table and clutched Janus' hand, unleashing a small smile in support. Janus just smiled back – and that was the end of the conversation. Remus was happy to giggle about his date to distract his best friend from his ashamed thoughts.

The next morning (around six hours after the previous conversation), Janus was getting ready for work. He was dressed in his yellow and black suit and his laptop was in the bag. He was thinking through his criminal cases and the arguments he was going to use. All was the normal work anxiety until he heard Remus' voice.

"Are you heading to Roman and Virgil's?" Remus learnt against the kitchen counter with another cup of coffee to recover from the one he finished at 3am. He was still in pyjamas so that part was normal since he stayed at home a lot. But more worries came into Janus' head at the suggestion of visiting his neighbours. He usually loved visiting them, especially when their hyper kid was at school- but that wasn't the same this time.

Janus swallowed his nerves and folded his collar in the living room mirror. "Um... Not right now, I'll leave them to come up to me." Remus raised an eyebrow as his only response, knowing Janus' usual tactics. "I'm totally not avoiding it."

"Falsehood." The man laughed and sipped his coffee as his roommate gave him a look of annoyance and confusion as he tied his tie again. "Learnt that word from Logan."

"Of course." Janus playfully scowled and grabbed his coat to face the day at work and day of... telling the truth. He was preparing for an eternity of hearing Remus talk about his crush-and-now-partner all lovey-dovey but he felt happy about the achievement when he saw Remus' wide smile.

But Remus stopped his roommate at the door by leaning against the doorknob. Both men raised one eyebrow at each other before Remus spoke. "I disagree with your way of telling the truth."

"It's not that bad Remus, it's just extending the inevitable." He knew Remus wouldn't let that be an excuse but he tried anyway. The man didn't budge. Janus sighed one more time before he'd have to javelin throw Remus into the living room – and that took a lot of effort as Remus never escaped the gym and exercise. "What do you think I should do then?"

"I think you should visit them before work. I know you don't have a meeting until the afternoon." Damn that calendar in the living room showing Janus' work schedule, Janus was hoping to sit in his favourite boba store and dissociate for three hours. There was no way he could disagree with Remus though.

Remus smiled again when Janus slowly nodded. But there was always an agreement when Remus persuaded Janus to do something he didn't want to do. "Fine. Can I have $10 for my pre-work boba though?" The $10 was given and Remus stepped out of the way, Janus left and prepared himself to fully let down these time travelling teenagers.
