Summary: Logan and Remus prepare for their first date, and Virgil and Roman gather their thoughts from the eventful conversation they had during the day.

My parent's new house has no internet so I have to publish these in Internet cafes... so don't expect many updates until later in September :)

Logan sighed as he logged out of the university computer, waving goodbye to the few enthusiastic people that came for his lecture on gene therapy restoring colour-vision in two colourblind children, and making small talk with other lecturers. It was an amazing opportunity to present a lecture at his home university but at the same time it was taxing – and Logan was ready to head home to his small one-bedroom apartment.

Well, that was a plan until he could feel his phone vibrate from his backside pocket. He brought out the phone, thinking it might be Roman and Virgil at first, but he wasn't annoyed to see Remus Sharsack's contact there. The pair had been chatting for a few days and Logan was hoping to see him before going back to the far away city.

Remus: So... When are you gonna leave the lecture hall?

Logan couldn't help but smirk a little as he brought his messenger bag over his head, as the other lecturers began to disperse so they could head to their own lecture theatres. The gentleman excused himself and left.

Logan: I'm just heading out the university building, where are we meeting up again?

Remus: Right here?

Although Logan was confused at the followed text at first, when he raised his head from his phone to open the door his breath was taken away by what he saw. Remus was stood in the parking lot beside a green beetle car, dressed in a buttoned shirt and dress pants, looking just as aesthetically pleasing as in high school. Watching him leaning against the car and staring at his phone was bringing teenage memories.

"Hey!" Logan finally caught his breath to shout over at Remus. At first Remus looked up and grabbed his car keys from his pocket, but then looked relieved when he saw Logan and opened the back door of his car to get something. "I didn't expect you to come pick me up here."

"I mean they let me in." Remus chuckled breathlessly, hiding whatever he got out his car behind his back and revealing a soft smirk. "I thought since you texted me the lecture theatre I'd meet you here. I know your car's here though."

Even though Logan was planning to sit in his car and take calm breaths until he didn't think dating Remus was a big event, but now he was facing Remus the idea of taking a car ride with him didn't seem too anxiety inducing. And he had permission to leave his car parked at the university until the evening.

Logan met eyes with Remus and got lost in his obsidian eyes. "I'm fine taking a ride with you somewhere, where are we heading?" Remus couldn't look away from Logan's eyes, and his focused gaze were causing his mind to wonder far, far into the future. He was looking so far into the future he had forgotten where he was taking his date today.

He was only reminded that he was going to take Logan on a date, and not just stare longingly into his eyes when he started to feel the heaviness of his present start to cramp his wrist. "First, I have a little gift." The smile on Logan's face became wider as Remus brought forward his gift, a recipe book of Crofters jam recipes. "I know you and Roman used to love Crofters jam, and although I don't eat it that often I'd love to cook some recipes for you." When Logan grabbed the book from Remus' hands their fingers brushed for a second, and Remus' brown cheeks were probably bright red. This was the moment Remus had dreamt of.

"Thank you, we'll do that sometime." Finally Logan and Remus separated their eyes so Logan could place the book in his messenger bag. As Logan opened the bag with one hand, he bit his lip and stuck out the tip of his tongue... Remus melted at the sight.

Remus couldn't contain his excitement when he and Logan met eyes again, and he couldn't believe he was nervous before being faced with the beautiful man in front of him. He even wore the closest to a suit he could find as he had no idea what to wear to a college campus! And now Remus was going to take his teenage crush out on a date to wherever he could think. He wanted to take Logan to the wedding arch already.

In the late evening of that day Roman and Virgil were getting ready for bed, after having read a dozen bedtime stories to their son. They were now sat cross-legged, opposite each other with Roman holding tweezers and Virgil holding his palms out. "I'm... sorry about this."

"No need to apologise." Roman responded, keeping Virgil's hand in place even while he flinched as splinters were being dragged out his hands. Virgil couldn't believe that – after all it was him that was so stupid as to have a panic attack on a woodworking floor. Roman was just picking up all the scattered pieces. "Are you sure I can't help fixing that ballerina statue?"

Virgil shook his head and kept his eyes on the splinters. "I'll have to start again, luckily the customer understood and allowed me an extension. It's a really pretty piece."

Roman smiled a smile that was quite obviously fake. He blamed himself for this situation after all, he shouldn't have let the excitement take over him. He was just excited for this life. Life at home wasn't that great, to say the least. His parents weren't as homophobic as Virgil's mother was, but they had a certain image they had for their son that if Roman were to date Virgil, that would go against their vision. They had raised three daughters – so they deserved their manly son... in their opinion. And being in a same sex relationship was apparently not manly.

In this world though, Roman didn't have to be the image everyone thought he was. He didn't have to be an expert at soccer and a romantic with women. He could be a silly and happy drama teacher with an amazing son that looked up to him, and he could love men. He could love Virgil.

"You have no idea how much you support me." Roman eventually said, looking into Virgil's eyes and avoiding the desire to blush at his beauty. "Even though you don't want to date me, I want you to know you really helped me here."

The fact that Virgil did in fact want to date Roman was at the tip of his tongue, but he swallowed the urge to say something when Virgil's phone vibrated. "I'll check it for you." Roman mumbled, a hand abandoning Virgil's palm as he reached over for the glittery purple iPhone. The phone screen lit up Roman's face and he had a focused expression, that a wide smile. "Logan says: 'date went well, may or may not have a boyfriend'."

Virgil matched Roman's wide smile as Roman read out the text, and excitement took over every nerve in his body. He was going home! Sure, he'd be in the female body he hated but now he could do what he wanted and know the consequences. He knew he was doing marketing and art in college, and he knew he was separating from his mother. He knew he'd be Virgil eventually and he was excited for all the milestones to become Virgil.

Roman's heart was beating quickly as Virgil launched towards him, trapping him in a hug. He laughed though, trying to keep down his desire to kiss the anxious hugger, and after a few splinters both men finally went to bed. They settled at opposite sides of the bed and Roman closed his eyes, preparing for the day that he'd have to be a teenager again. He was stuck into his own mind until he felt a poke on his shoulder.

Virgil knew he'd view himself as stupid in the future, but he couldn't resist what his tongue wanted to say at the moment. "Hey Ro?" Virgil piped up, knowing he needed to gather the courage otherwise he'd never stop thinking about it. "I'm cold."

With lots of hesitated movements, Virgil shuffled closer to Roman's side of the bed. Even though both husbands were covered head-to-toe in a duvet Virgil leant in, taking deep breaths. "You don't have to do this." Roman assured, slowly bringing an arm around the side of Virgil's chest and resting his hand on his back.

"I really want to." Virgil just whispered back, closing his eyes and smiling a little. He knew this panic was worth it – having Roman close was an addiction.
