Summary: Roman goes to meet 'Gym-Bud' and finds out he's really an old childhood friend. But that childhood friend misunderstands Roman's partial confession of amnesia and causes an avalanche of excitement (on his end) and worry (on Roman's).

I've now finished Plus One but with uni on top of this I don't think I can do weekly updates yet :(. But as you can probably tell the plot's building so hopefully that will keep your interest!

Also - Remus Sharsack is a deli character in this so please tell me if I word things wrong. And Janus is aro-ace and doesn't want a partner but you are still valid if you identify as aro-ace and want a relationship!

Instead of going home to his husband and son like usual, Roman walked out of classes earlier than usual with all his books in the back of the car instead of the front. The sat-nav seemed to identify whatever gym he was meant to go to straight away. And after driving there he stood in the car park trying to decide what to do.

Until a grown man jumped on his back and toppled him to the floor.

"Hey bud I missed you! Is Virgil really that much better than your best friend?" The man that landed on him smiled wide as he turned around. The man had brown skin and brown eyes, a blond stripe on his fringe, it was a face Roman seemed to recognise from a single year of middle school memories.

"Remus Sharsack?" Roman asked as the man finally climbed off him, dusting himself off. Remus continued smiling but with a head tilt – it was most definitely him. He looked older too now though. He looked athletic instead of just thin, with large biceps and abs peaking from under a ripped cropped tank top. He also had a full beard covering his face that showed the curls Roman remembered from middle school. It was only then Roman realised he shouldn't give away his whole time-travel amnesia in the middle of a car park. "I'm sorry it's been so long! I just really wanted some special time with Virgil."

The side-hug was casual as the pair started walking into the gym they must go regularly to together (as Remus seemed to know literally everyone at the front desk). "You know you can tell me if you were just fucking your husband every night. There's no filter between us bros."

Roman pretended to cringe, an action that made Remus laugh uncontrollably. "Hey! Verge also gave me that look when I saw him last!"

"No surprises there. But nice things do exist outside the bedroom, Re." People didn't seem to mind the two friends' brash chatter, although they were happy to talk to them as they seemed to be regulars. Remus was already dressed for exercising while Roman was dressed too much like a teacher so they both went into the locker room. Luckily Roman seemed to have lots of athletic clothes though so it was pretty easy to pack a white t-shirt and some red sweatpants to change into.

While Remus was waiting, he went onto his phone. "What about that cute-ass lecturer? You seen him recently?"

He immediately knew what cute lecturer his friend would be talking about – and the memories came back again from when he thought that man was cute and he was allowed to tell him so everyday. "What, Logan Rubik? Oh yeah. He came last weekend to ask Virgil about some art stuff, I was playing with Nathan though."

Remus looked smug as he raised his head from his phone, fiddling with the strands of his hair that reached his shoulders. "Mm-mm, I saw him walk into your place. It's a good thing my window sees right into your front door." He was looking away from Roman as he got changed – but probably not because of politeness and more maybe because he was imagining Logan's figure and frame. It felt super uncomfortable to see anyone thinking about his ex-boyfriend like that. Let alone someone he also knew from childhood. It was a new experience to see Remus attracted to the same sex though.
